ABRAHAM KNEW HIS PROBLEM

Post date: Oct 25, 2016 12:00:37 AM

Abraham was not ignorant of his life problems, but he was completely ignorant of what he could do to solve the problem like most of us are today. Knowledge of the problem is one big gain but not knowing what to do with the problem, to the problem and in the problem is a source of great worry to every one of us and Abraham had his share of those worries despite all the promises of God and all the blessings he had received from God and the promising future he had. The knowledge of the problem and his inability to solve them personally almost cast doubt to his future according to his own thoughts and calculations. Look problem are real; their effects on our lives are real and its desire to cloud, hinder and stop our future destinies in God is also very real; but remember, in this things, God is always with you; He will not allow physical or spiritual things to stop all of His plans, all of His desires, and all of His purposes for your life. He did just that for Abraham and Sarah, He will do the same for you. People, irrespective of wealth, education, language, gender, the position currently occupied, nationality and locations are worried by their respective problems and mostly on the once they cannot solve despite the knowledge.

Abraham was a man like us; he knew many things, saw many things; took most of them to heart and had no personal solution to most of them. Abraham clearly knew and heard the voice of God and was able to distinguish that voice from all others including his own. He knew God promised him a son with the Isaac; he knew God is not a liar and will not fail him; he knew God had blessed him; he knew God will sustain him; he knew he had faithful servants. Abraham knew he and his wife were not getting younger; he knew he was married to Sarah and the covenant of God for a son was between himself and Sarah: he knew Eliezer was faithful, obedient and trusted and Abraham knew and was worried that they had child but there was nothing else he could do than to keep relying, trusting and obeying God. And God proved His promises to them.

“After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, do not be afraid, Abram, I am your shield; your reward for obedience shall be very great. Abram said, Lord God, what reward will You give me, since I am leaving this world childless, and he who will be the owner and heir of my house is this servant Eliezer from Damascus? And Abram continued, since You have given no child to me, a servant born in my house is my heir. Then behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, this man Eliezer will not be your heir but he who shall come from your own body shall be your heir. And the Lord brought Abram outside his tent into the night and said, look now toward the heavens and count the stars, if you are able to count them. Then He said to him, so numerous shall your descendants be. Then Abram believed, trusted, relied on, and remained steadfast to the Lord; and He counted it to him as righteousness, doing right in regard to God and man. And He said to him, I am the same Lord who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land as an inheritance. But Abram said, Lord God, by what proof will I know that I will inherit it? So God said to him, bring Me a three-year-old heifer, a three-year-old female goat, a three-year-old ram, a turtledove, and a young pigeon. So Abram brought all these to Him and cut them down the middle, and laid each half opposite the other, but he did not cut the birds. The birds of prey swooped down on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away. When the sun was setting, a deep sleep overcame Abram; and a horror of great darkness overcame him. God said to Abram, know for sure that your descendants will be strangers living temporarily in a land that is not theirs, where they will be enslaved and oppressed for four hundred years. But on that nation whom your descendants will serve I will bring judgment, and afterward, they will come out of that land with great possessions. As for you, you shall die and go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age.” Genesis 15:1-15 despite what you know, have seen, and heard, never fail to rely on God for a true solution.
