GOD WILL MAKE A WAY – HE MADE ONE FOR MATTHEW

His being called out by Jesus Christ from others sitting on their duty post as tax collectors was a surprise to him and many on that table, and many who knew him previously. It was a glorious call, a distinguishing call, and a call that brought change to his life physically, spiritually, and financially; a call that took him up from where he was and brought him to a place of an eternal and highly rewarding relationship with the Almighty God, call to a place of everlasting divine blessings and heavenly recognition, a place of eternal joy that wealth can never buy, a call to a place eternal and meaningful usefulness; a call to a place that is above what money and any form of wealth can ever provide, a call to a place and office that was divinely ordained and prepared by God alone. To Matthew, it was a day and a moment he never forgot, a day and moment he never thought will ever come but it came, a day and moment that distinguished him from others around that table with him in the same profession and uniform, a day and moment we all want and pray to see happen in our lives, a moment we want to experience, and a time we desire. As God made the way for Matthew, He will make the way for you.

Before Matthew became a follower of Jesus Christ and His disciple, there was nothing spoken or written, or significant about him, about his parents, and about his immediate family, but God in His love was preparing something bigger and better for him, God was preparing his name and his activities as a disciple of Jesus Christ to be immortalized, and on that faithful day, Jesus Christ our Lord brought the plans of God to pass in his life. What God had prepared and is preparing in His love and power for you will definitely come to pass, God will make a way for it and for you. The only previous description about Matthew is that he was a tax collector, he was in a profession that was hated by the people, a profession noted for extortion and injustice, a profession noted for intimidation and harassment of the poor and innocent, a profession hated by their merciless activities against the people, yet God took him out, clean him up, and made him new. It was a day and a moment Matthew never forgot, a day we want to see in our lives, a moment we want, and a time we wish will be now to begin having that same experience.

“As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting in the tax collector’s booth and He said to him, follow Me as My disciple, accepting Me as your Master and Teacher and walking the same path of life that I walk. And Matthew got up and followed Him. Then as Jesus was reclining at the table in Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners, including non-observant Jews came and ate with Him and His disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked His disciples, why does your Master eat with tax collectors and sinners? But when Jesus heard this, He said, those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but only those who are sick. God and learn what the scripture means, I desire compassion for the distress and not animal sacrifice, for I did not come to call to repentance the self-proclaimed righteous who see no need to change, but sinners, who recognize their sin and actively seek forgiveness.” Matthew 9:9-13

Matthew did not go to Christ Jesus but Christ went to him; Matthew did not ask Christ Jesus for anything before then but Christ gave him an offer he couldn’t resist, refuse or question; Matthew was not ashamed to leave his post and position; did not hesitate to leave his lucrative job, and did not mind leaving his wealth and properties to accept the offer, answer the call, and follow Christ Jesus as His disciple. Whatever had locked you up and closed you in will be opened, as Jesus Christ visited Matthew even in his job post and gave him the offer, so will He visit you also with an offer that will change you for the very best, an offer that will distinguish you, an offer that will bring you honor beyond what you are right now and where you are, and offer that will distinguish you from others in that same location and profession with you, and an offer that will make you known.
