GOD’S COUNSEL WILL STAND

“Discipline and teach your son while there is hope, and do not indulge your anger or resentment by imposing inappropriate punishment nor desire his destruction. A man of great anger will bear the penalty for his quick temper and lack of self-control; for if you rescue him and do not let him learn from the consequences of his action, you will only have to rescue him over and over again. Listen to counsel, receive instruction, and accept correction, that you may be wise in the time to come. Many plans are in a man’s mind, but it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand, be carried out. That which is desirable in a man is his loyalty and unfailing love, but it is better to be a poor man than a wealthy liar. The fear of the Lord leads to life, so that one may sleep satisfied, untouched by evil.” Proverbs 19:18-23. Men plan what they are going to do; they even take steps to fulfill those plans according to their thoughts, understanding, ability and vision, but right in the scene, behind the scenes, and through the scenes, God is ruling and over-ruling from heaven and fulfilling His eternal purpose, His best will, His good pleasure and His best desires for you.

Nimrod had a plan to build a tower that touches heaven; make the world as good as he could ever imagine; and unite humanity under one language. Pharaoh had a plan to keep all the children of Israel as slaves forever in Egypt. Balak had a plan to curse the Israelites and prevent them from reaching the place promised by God. The Canaanites and other seven kings had a plan to prohibit Israel from passing through their territory and settling in the Promised Land. Saul had a plan to kill David to prevent him from being the next King. Jonah had a plan to escape going to Nineveh as instructed. Nebuchadnezzar had a plan to destroy the three Hebrew men in the fire he had prepared. King Herod and the religious leaders had a plan to kill Jesus Christ and to prevent Him from ever rising after His burial. But despite the plans, the materials put in place to succeed, and the resources brought together to implement the plans, all failed and only the Lord’s counsel stood and was manifested. You may not know His counsel for you, but that will not prevent Him from taking you into what He had planned and destined for your life; His counsel will stand.

Did you know despite our very best and worst moments, the feelings, failures, pains and sorrows, disappointments and discouragement, dreams and visions, desires and expectations, delays and denials, it is our Lord’s counsel that will eventually stand and be established? Remember you have the power to do many things, but God is the most powerful and only Him can do all things when, and how and where He wants; you have the knowledge which can distinguish you, but God has the knowledge of all things and can distinguish all things and all men in every nation and in every location; you have the freedom to do what you want, but God gives freedom to all men; you have the power to make decisions, but despite your best decisions ever, it is the Lord’s counsel that will stand. You have the ability to feel, smell, taste, hear and see, but our God feels much more, smells much more, taste much more, hears much more sees all things much better than we can and will see; you have the ability to speak and to react but God has the power to do what He wants despite your ability and words. God has no plans to put you to shame or abandon you to the failing things in life. His counsel will definite stand and be established in you. Plans are good and we have many, some good and some not so good; some very clear and some are not; some we have perfect understanding and some we don’t, yet in the best of our plans, it is the Lord’s counsel that will stand. We have good dreams and have developed ways to see all of them fulfilled; we have desires to reach the topmost in our professions; have invested lots of time and money, have struggled since to be our best without having to be dependent thereafter on any one or experience lack; we have read the books, listen to inspirations and motivations, done our best to have breakthrough, yet it is the Lord’s counsel that will stand. Our hearts are filled with plans, thoughts; dreams, visions, desires and emotions, yet the Lord’s counsel will stand. Click here to submit prayer request.
