When God took the past away from Sarah, it was an unending celebration for her, for her family and for her husband Abraham. Sarah was married with hope to a righteous man, to a man who practically feared God, who deliberately obeyed God, who decisively followed His instructions irrespective of the pains and the inconvenience and a man who absolutely trust and rely on God for direction, leadership and provisions. Sarah was married to a man who had a living covenant with the Almighty God, she included in that covenant, her future was included in that covenant and sealed in that promise in that covenant and her future generation was destined to receive and to inherit the blessings and proceeds of that covenant.

Despite being included in the covenant of blessings, the covenant that guaranteed procreation by the power of the Almighty, the covenant that meets all provisions and the covenant that assured her of longevity to see her children's children, she suffered setback by reason of her inability to conceive the covenant child that will be called Isaac, and to see the covenant child become what the covenant said. Despite being married to a righteous man who practically feared, worshiped and trusted God, Sarah suffered the setback she never expected in her life; suffered humiliation and shame she never expected, suffered from what she thought was impossible despite being a humbled and loving wife to a servant of the Almighty God. But her shame was not destined to last forever, her sorrows was not intended by God and her fears was not from God but from her knowledge of herself based on age and the imagination of her heart based on what she saw in her life compared to what she saw in the lives of others.

“The Lord graciously remembered and visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for her as He had promised. So Sarah conceived and gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age, at the appointed time of which God had spoken to him. Abraham named his son Isaac, the son to whom Sarah gave birth. So Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, just as God had commanded him. Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born. Sarah said God has made me laugh, all who hear about our good news will laugh with me. And she said, who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? For I have given birth to a son by him in his old age. The child Isaac grew and was weaned, and Abraham held a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.” Genesis 21:1-8

The promise of God for your life may be delayed due to circumstances beyond your knowledge and control or by the activities of the wicked in your life and family, but God’s promises will be fulfilled in your life in His time; the reward of your years of faithfulness and obedience to God may be delayed due to factors you do not know, but that reward will definitely come; the reward of your submissiveness to the will and power of God may be delayed, but it will come and you will not miss it; the wait on your expectations from God may be long and sometimes troubling to imagine, but it will definitely come; doubts and fear may spring forth from your heart but as long as you remain in God as Sarah remained with Abraham, and Abraham with Sarah, God’s words concerning you, His promises concerning you and His desires for your life will definitely be fulfilled by His power and enabling grace.

When God’s time of fulfillment of all His words and promises come, though age may be stirring at you, age will not stop God, will not hinder God’s plans, and will not stop the purpose of His words and blessings. Though location may be a disadvantage according to your thoughts, knowledge and imagination, location will not stop God and will not hinder His plans for your life. By reason of her age, Sarah thought, believed and said it will be impossible, but God in is  faithfulness overrule her thoughts, her imagination and her words. The Lord remembered, visited and did for her as He had promised. For prayers, Click here
