WHEN PRESSURE MOUNTS, WHAT TO DO. (02)

There are pressures everywhere to give up; pressure to stand up for what we believe and for what we do not believe, pressure to do things that are inappropriate with regards to true Christianity and the word of God and our conscience, pressure to defend others or deny them; pressure to keep silent and pressure to speak, pressure to bow to evil and injustice; pressure to worship what we do not know and what we do not believe, pressure to follow others in their ways and pressure to ignore the ways God and the leading of the word and Spirit of God, pressure to be submissive or be subdued: pressure to renounce Christ Jesus and godliness, pressure to be self-centered and remain angry at everyone;  pressure to act contrary to the words of God, pressure to be unmindful of others: pressure to get married or get out of marriage: pressure to get out of the home; pressure to secure a job and pressure to resign; pressure to ask for a loan; pressure to buy all kinds of stuff, pressure to abuse someone in return for your abuse; pressure to retaliate with force, pressure to keep back support; pressure to give up church and fellowship; pressure to cheat others and pressure to lie and to deceive. Apostle Paul said, We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-10

But despite the pressure and the insults and humiliations and denials you suffer every day, God wants you to always do things that will benefit you now and in the future according to His plans and His words irrespective of the pressure of the situation you have, the pressure experiences you have had in life, the pressure of the disappointments from people around and the pressure of the insults you have received from people; God wants you to do things that will attract His blessings into your life and into your situation and He wants you to deliberately do things that will activate your success and breakthrough in life as He had promised. When pressure for evil comes despite your location, profession and the offer, know that the promised reward in such pressure is very temporal and the repercussion will last for a long time.

Esau did not just sell his birthright, something happened, he was pressured by hunger and the desire to satisfy the hunger, he felt the pressure and couldn’t resist it so he bowed to the pressure for a temporal satisfaction but the repercussion lasted long in his life; drove him to all form of evil, wickedness, and anger against himself, against his parents, and against his brother thereafter. Don’t sell your birthright for any reason and for any temporal satisfaction. Don’t forgo God’s destiny for your life for any reason or for any reward from anybody including Satan, the people and the issues mounting the pressure on you and offering the reward.

“Now Isaac loved and favored Esau because he enjoyed eating his game, but Rebekah loved and favored Jacob. Jacob had cooked reddish-brown lentil stew one day, when Esau came from the field and was famished and Esau said to Jacob, please let me have a quick swallow of that red stuff there because I am exhausted and famished. For that reason, Esau was also called Edom. Jacob answered, first sell me your birthright, the rights of a firstborn. Esau said, look, I am about to die if I do not eat soon, so of what use is this birthright to me? Jacob said, swear an oath to me today that you are selling it to me for this food, so he swore an oath to him, and sold him his birthright. Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew and he ate and drank, and got up and went on his way. In this way, Esau scorned his birthright.” Genesis 25:27-34. There will always be pressures in our lives everyday, but we should not fall to the pressure by ignoring the word of God on that issue. When pressure comes, something important in our lives and to our future will always be at stake. We should be careful and know that God is there to help us. For prayers, Click here
