ISAAC’S AMAZING RESULT

In the presence of famine, God made a way; in the presence of hostilities, God made a way; in times and places of arguments, God made a way; in times of jealousy, God made a way; when the people stood up against him, God made a way. Isaac had an amazing result in his life despite what he saw and experienced, because God spoke to him and he obeyed the words spoken by God. Isaac did not just rely on the knowledge of God’s covenant with his father, or the promise God made to Abraham his father or the wealth he inherited from his father Abraham, he relied on the word spoken by God to him. “ And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt, dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of.” Genesis 26:2. Isaac obeyed God and remain in Gerar despite knowing and seeing that was a famine there; despite knowing and experiencing all the hostilities from the people; despite their arguments and the confrontations with him from the people, and God in His power gave Isaac an amazing result until he became distinguished.

What do you rely on as a Christian today? Is it the past, the present, or the future? Is it what you have, know, see, or experience? It is not the afflictions that will define you but what you rely on in life. Isaac relied on the word spoken by God despite what he saw and experienced. “Then Abimelech issued a public proclamation, anyone who touches this man or his wife will be put to death. When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the Lord blessed him. He became a very rich man, and his wealth continued to grow. He acquired so many flocks of sheep and goats, herds of cattle, and servants that the Philistines became jealous of him. So the Philistines filled up all of Isaac’s wells with dirt. These were the wells that had been dug by the servants of his father, Abraham. Finally, Abimelech ordered Isaac to leave the country. Go somewhere else, he said, for you have become too powerful for us. So Isaac moved away to the Gerar Valley, where he set up their tents and settled down. He reopened the wells his father had dug, which the Philistines had filled in after Abraham’s death. Isaac also restored the names Abraham had given them. Isaac’s servants also dug in the Gerar Valley and discovered a well of freshwater. But then the shepherds from Gerar came and claimed the spring. This is our water, they said, and they argued over it with Isaac’s herdsmen. So Isaac named the well Esek, which means argument. Isaac’s men then dug another well, but again there was a dispute over it. So Isaac named it Sitnah, which means hostility. Abandoning that one, Isaac moved on and dug another well. This time there was no dispute over it, so Isaac named the place Rehoboth,  which means open space, for he said, at last, the Lord has created enough space for us to prosper in this land. From there Isaac moved to Beersheba, where the Lord appeared to him on the night of his arrival. I am the God of your father, Abraham, he said. Do not be afraid, for I am with you and will bless you. I will multiply your descendants, and they will become a great nation. I will do this because of my promise to Abraham, my servant. Then Isaac built an altar there and worshiped the Lord. He set up his camp at that place, and his servants dug another well.” Genesis 26:11-25

Isaac armed with a living covenant from God through Abraham his father, armed with a blessing he inherited from his father Abraham, and armed with a promise from God through his father Abraham faced an uncertain future, faced the wickedness and anger of hungry people; he did not know what to do and was confused, the only thought in his mind was to move out, but God did not leave him to face the uncertainty without a word, a command, and a leftover seed that had the capacity to reproduce itself multiple times. Even in your situation today, there is a word from God to you, there is a command for you to follow, there is a promise that will help you in that very situation, and there is a seed in you and with you to produce an amazing result. Rely on God’s words and follow them faithfully. For prayers, Click here
