WHEN THE LORD REMEMBERS YOU (19)

When God remembers you, the prison doors will open; the chains of afflictions and sorrows and pains will be broken; the barriers standing against you will be forcefully removed; the mountains that prevent you from advancing beyond where you are in life will become low; the valleys that frighten and discourages you will be leveled; the years of redundancy will be rewarded; the years of faithfulness and obedience will be rewarded, and the joy of living for Christ and following His will and principles will be celebrated. When God finally opened the prison doors for Joseph to come, it was for His glory to be seen, it was for His plans to be fully manifested and it was for Him to confirm Joseph in the position and place He had destined for him.

When Joseph was informed that Pharaoh wants to him, Joseph had no knowledge of what will happen next, all he expected was to plead his case and if possible get out of jail and go home, but unknown to him was that God is ahead of him in thoughts, in plans and in actions; unknown to him was the fact that his day of unlimited joy was about to begin, his day of glory was starting, his day for the dreams to come true was that day, and his day of exultation beyond all of his dreams, all of his fears, all of the hates, all of the pains, all of the isolations, all of the sorrows and separation were ending. Joseph stood before Pharaoh innocently and without a plan, but the plan of God was unfolding and God was using Pharaoh to do what He wants for and in the life of Joseph. Did you know God is with you, ahead of you and for you even in your current situation, and He will not fail? Pharaoh unintentionally became the instrument God used to fulfill all the dreams and promises He gave to Joseph.

The life of Joseph was changed from what it was before when God remembered him; Joseph was removed from prison to be the prime minister in Egypt, a position he never asked for, never in his wildest imagination think will be possible for him, never asked for and never thought anyone will ever wish him that; all Joseph was interested in his whole life was a release from the prison confinement, a release from isolation, he was asking for and looking for freedom for himself and freedom from condemnation and shame, freedom from his punishment for a crime he never in any way committed, the act he felt was not only against God but also against his slave master.

“After these things happened, two of the king of Egypt’s officers displeased the king, the man who served wine to the king and the king’s baker. The king became angry with his officer who served him wine and his baker, so he put them in the prison of the chief butcher, the same prison where Joseph was kept. The chief butcher put the two prisoners in Joseph’s care, and they stayed in prison for some time. One night both the king’s officer who served him wine and the baker had a dream. Each had his own dream with its own meaning. When Joseph came to them the next morning, he saw they were worried. He asked the king’s officers who were with him, why do you look so unhappy today? The two men answered, we both had dreams last night, but no one can explain their meaning to us. Joseph said to them, God is the only One who can explain the meaning of dreams. Tell me your dreams. So the man who served wine to the king told Joseph his dream. He said I dreamed I saw a vine, and on the vine were three branches. I watched the branches bud and blossom, and then the grapes ripened. I was holding the king’s cup, so I took the grapes and squeezed the juice into the cup. Then I gave it to the king. Then Joseph said, I will explain the dream to you. The three branches stand for three days. Before the end of three days, the king will free you, and he will allow you to return to your work. You will serve the king his wine just as you did before. But when you are free, remember me. Be kind to me, and tell the king about me so I can get out of this prison. I was taken by force from the land of the Hebrews, and I have done nothing here to deserve being put in prison.” Genesis 40:1-15. Joseph told the cupbearer to remember him and God made it happen.
