GOD MADE A WAY FOR ISAAC (1)

“The Lord kept His word and did for Sarah exactly what he had promised. She became pregnant, and she gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age. This happened at just the time God had said it would. And Abraham named their son Isaac. Eight days after Isaac was born, Abraham circumcised him as God had commanded. Abraham was 100 years old when Isaac was born, and Sarah declared, God has brought me laughter, all who hear about this will laugh with me. Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse a baby? Yet I have given Abraham a son in his old age. When Isaac grew up and was about to be weaned, Abraham prepared a huge feast to celebrate the occasion.” Genesis 21:1-8. Despite years of delays, despite years of frustrations, despite several mistakes, and despite all the shame, the Lord kept His word.

After the promise was given to Abraham, after many years of waiting and working in faith, after many years of patience, years of prayers, years of obedience, and years of expectations, God finally made the way for Abraham and Sarah to see and to have Isaac as was promised. Like you and other true believers and followers of Jesus Christ, Isaac was not born to suffer, he was born to inherit a promise and a covenant, he was born to be blessed, and the covenant was scheduled to work in his favor every day and everywhere. Isaac knew the covenant, believed the covenant, and lived constantly to expect it, but despite being the son of promise, the son of Abraham and Sarah, despite his beliefs and his expectations, things did not go as smooth as it was expected to be, yet Isaac never gave up because of the situations that were contrary to the promised words and to the expectations of the covenant. But God made a way for him.

Irrespective of how things may be or seem to be in your life, the covenant relationship you have in Christ Jesus through salvation will work to your advantage if you don’t give up believing, and trusting and following Him because of the past, or the present or the coming adversities. God will always in all situations make a way to fulfill His words, His promises, and His covenants. He is the Lord and there is none and will never be any like Him in all things. He changes situations and changes lives, and He will change your situation because He had changed your life by the power of His love and word that brought total regeneration to your mind, body, and spirit.

Isaac was now living with his wife and adversity came up, “A severe famine now struck the land as had happened before in Abraham’s time. So Isaac moved to Gerar, where Abimelech, king of the Philistines lived. The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, do not go down to Egypt, but do as I tell you. Live here as a foreigner in this land, and I will be with you and bless you. I hereby confirm that I will give all these lands to you and your descendants, just as I solemnly promised Abraham your father. I will cause your descendants to become as numerous as the stars of the sky, and I will give them all these lands. And through your descendants, all the nations of the earth will be blessed. I will do this because Abraham listened to me and obeyed all my requirements, commands, decrees, and instructions. So Isaac stayed in Gerar.”Genesis 26:1-6

In that adversity, as people will always want to do, Isaac thought of moving out with his wife to somewhere else, thought of taking immediate action to avoid the pains and the sufferings that will come as a result, he had a place in his thoughts and judgment that will be better than where he was and will offer him better opportunities to overcome whatever adversities that will come, but in that same situation and after all his conclusive thoughts, God made a way for Isaac to see Him, to hear Him, and to receive directives and instructions from Him. Remember, in that situation, Isaac did not ask for anything or fasted to obtain directive or information concerning his future, but in that same situation, God made a way for Isaac to see, to hear, and to obey Him, and that dissolved the fears of the consequences of the famine.
