LORD, NOT BY MY RIGHTEOUSNESS

God did not choose any of us because of our righteousness though He expects those chosen to walk in, to rely on, remain in and to do all they can to maintain righteousness through the gift, activities and achievements of Christ Jesus on their behalf. “For our sake He made Christ to be sin who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become, endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of the righteousness of God what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness.” 2 Corinthians 5:21

Moses told the children of Israel clearly about what God was doing with them: “Hear, O Israel: You are to cross over the Jordan today, and go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourself, cities great and fortified up to heaven, a people great and tall, the descendants of the Anakim, whom you know, and of whom you heard it said, Who can stand before the descendants of Anak? Therefore understand today that the Lord your God is He who goes over before you as a consuming fire. He will destroy them and bring them down before you; so you shall drive them out and destroy them quickly, as the Lord has said to you. Do not think in your heart, after the Lord your God has cast them out before you, saying, Because of my righteousness the Lord has brought me in to possess this land’; but it is because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is driving them out from before you. It is not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart that you go in to possess their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord your God drives them out from before you, and that He may fulfill the word which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Therefore understand that the Lord your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people.” Deuteronomy 9:1-6

You may ask why God is keeping you alive till this day? It is because you have not finished your assigned responsibilities. You may ask why God wants you to be successful in what you are doing? It is because He has greater interest in your success than on your assumed personal enjoyment and comfort that such will bring. Why will He go before you? It is because Gods knows your strength and weaknesses better, He knows the past and present plans, the activities of the devil more than you and anyone else, and only He is able to handle the devil adequately in all things, in all situations, in all locations and in all profession.

Did you know that though God can do without man, He needs you much more than you need Him every day? He loves you more than you can think? He wants to work with you all the day, all the way and in all things. The scripture assures: “You are My battle-ax and weapons of war, For with you I will break the nation in pieces; With you I will destroy kingdoms; With you I will break in pieces the horse and its rider; With you I will break in pieces the chariot and its rider; With you also I will break in pieces man and woman; With you I will break in pieces old and young; With you I will break in pieces the young man and the maiden; With you also I will break in pieces the shepherd and his flock; With you I will break in pieces the farmer and his yoke of oxen; And with you I will break in pieces governors and rulers.” Jeremiah 51:20-23

One of the things that God cherishes greatly is your desire to maintain the best relationship you can ever offer with Him. He needs it, and He is always pleased if you will give all it takes to make that happen and to sustain it all through your life. Our destiny is in His hands.

The children of Israel did not enter the Promised Land because of their righteousness but because of God’s choice, grace, gift and ability to keep and provide for them. God will give you success because He had chosen, predestined, called and justified you through Christ Jesus to succeed, and you have personally accepted that call and decided to walk on the path of His covenanted word to that destined place of your success. It is Christ righteousness. For Prayers Click here
