AMAZING THINGS GOD DID FOR DAVID (1)

Before David became king in Israel, he was the last born of the family, a sheep keeper, a forest boy, he was not allowed to join the military even though he wanted, and he was isolated from other family members because of his assigned family duties. Did you know that your destiny is not in the hands of men or your parents, employer or government and does not depend on what they have done, what they continue to do and what they will ever do against you or where they have or will ever place you in life? Your destiny is absolute in the hands of the Almighty God who alone made you and created the heavens and the earth for His glory. While in the forest looking after the family sheep, David developed and mastered the gift of the composition of songs, the act of singing and skill of playing instruments which he used to keep himself happy, keep his mind focused and engaged and also entertain others around while still looking after his sheep. His songs and music skills became noticed by God and others. The Almighty God and people around were happy with David for what he was doing and they noticed his skill.

Because God noted David’s actions, He sent Samuel to anoint him saying to Samuel I have found a man after mine own heart: “But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do” Acts 13:22. That single recommendation by God was all that was needed to set up the beginning of amazing things in the life of David and that is what you also need today and you have been faithful, obedient and humble in following Christ Jesus. This is David’s testimony of what happened thereafter: “I will extol and praise You O Lord, for You have lifted me up, and have not let my enemies rejoice over me. O Lord my God, I cried to You for help, and You have healed me. O Lord You have brought my life up from Sheol the netherworld, the place of the dead; You have kept me alive so that I would not go down to the grave. Sing to the Lord, O you His godly ones, and give thanks at the mention of His holy name. For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may endure for a night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning. As for me, in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved. By Your favor and grace, O Lord you have made my mountain stand strong; You hid Your face, and I was horrified. I called to You, O Lord and to the Lord I made supplication and specific request. What profit is there in my death, if I go down to the grave? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness to man? Hear, O Lord, be gracious and show favor to me; O Lord, be my helper. You have turned my mourning into dancing for me; You have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.” Psalms 30:1-12

David did not ask for a recommendation from God or from man to become a King but he received God’s commendation that began his journey to the throne as king in Israel. God’s commendation is powerful, peaceful and it is the best anyone will ever have in life. Has God commended you for or in anything? Wait, the result will definitely follow; no one will stop it, not the lions, not the killers, not the past mistakes of your life or that of your parents or that of your nation. No power will stop you and no weapon raise to stop you will succeed. God is still commending people; He can give you the commendation you need right now if you will set your heart to please Him and begin living accordingly. “In that day you will not need to ask Me about anything. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you. Until now you have not asked for anything in My name; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy may be full and complete. In that day you will ask in My name, and I am not saying to you that I will ask the Father on your behalf; for the Father loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed I came from the Father.” John 16:23-27.
