“No man will be able to stand before you to oppose you as long as you live. Just as I was present with Moses, so will I be with you; I will not fail you or abandon you. Be strong and confident and courageous, for you will give these people as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.” Joshua 1:5. What a comforting word in days of Joshua's uncertainty, in his time to face adversity, in his time of confrontation and confusion by his known enemies and in the disturbing situation that was to follow him immediately Moses passed into glory. It is good to know that the God we serve knows our past, He knows our present, He knows our future and He has a plan for every moment of our lives. There is no situation that suddenly comes on Him or will take him by surprise. He is absolutely in control of everything and everyone, be strong, be courageous, and always remain faithful to Him.

While Joshua was still confused, wondering how he will be an effective leader knowing who and what the people are, how he will lead the Israelites, how he will convince the elders and those who were leaders before him to follow him in submission, and what he will need to confront the armed nations in battle, he was given these assurance; “It is the Lord your God who will cross ahead of you; He will destroy these nations before you, and you shall dispossess them. Joshua is the one who will go across before you to lead you, just as the Lord has said. The Lord will do to them just as He did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites, and to their land, when He destroyed them. The Lord will hand them over to you, and you shall do to them in accordance with all the commandments which I have commanded you. Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble in dread before them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not fail you or abandon you. Then Moses called to Joshua and said to him in the sight of all the people of Israel, be strong and courageous, for you will go with this people into the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you will give it to them as an inheritance. It is the Lord who goes before you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:3-8

Failure does not mean it is impossible for you to succeed, and fear does not mean you can’t do it or won’t have it when you persist. There is nothing that God won’t do for His faithful children. What God had promised you will come to pass; He will go before you to make a way, He will do it for you even when you have fears or had failed in your previous attempts just because He had promised and you are still faithfully holding on those words of promise. The devil is out to get you down and out by whatever he means he could, but God will defend you against him; men are there ready to fight and frustrate you until you give up and feel their pains of wickedness and declare yourself worthless, but your faithfulness before God will defend and keep you against all of their plans and works of wickedness and jealousy; situations are there to force you to succumb to the adversities of life and declare God as uncaring or unloving or unmerciful, but God had not changed, He said as He was with Moses, He will be with Joshua, and so will He be with you now in this situation; family are watching and asking when will you have it? Friends are there waiting to see what will happen to you hereafter, colleagues are there waiting to take over when you slip, the enemies are there pushing things the wrong way in your life, but remember, God is still with you and He is for you. Be strong in Him; be courageous by His words and promises and in the things of God, and remain faithful to the Almighty God, He will turn these situations to your advantage; He will deliver you, He will keep you, He will give you the victory and He will lift up above them and above your fears and uncertainties and confusions in life.
