WASTED TIMES? ABSOLUTELY NOT

David was a man who understood and experienced the passage of times and seasons personally in divers ways. He knew the changes that follow and did have practical experiences of what it will require to survive such moments. He was a man who was well prepared for the times and the seasons in his life; he knew tough times and unpleasant seasons, good times and good seasons will come and will also go; he knew that despite what will happen in those times and seasons, he will be a success and live to fulfill the purpose he was born to fulfill. He grew up to know he was born for a purpose; called for a purpose, anointed and consecrated for a reason, prepared and made able through grace, and set aside for a mission that will experience times and seasons, and decided he will not give up the mission, he will not regret the mission, and will not look back. In following the purpose and mission, David faced tough times within his family, but did not regret; faced tough seasons in the forest fighting lions and bears without giving up; faced tough choices seeing the height and weapons of Goliath but did not fear; faced rage and jealousy from his boss but did not give up; spent time and seasons in the forest, living in caves and wondering, yet those moments that seemed wasted were never wasted, God used those times and seasons that went by and all the situations in-between to prepare him for what He truly wanted; a king distinguished from all other kings before and after; a king remembered for exceptional love and desire for God; a king respected and honored for generations. Despite the times and the seasons that went by David wrote with joy; “Even though I walk through the sunless valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod to protect and Your staff to guide, they comfort and console me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You have anointed and refreshed my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell forever throughout all my days in the house and in the presence of the Lord. Psalm 23:4-6.

Only one thing under the heavens that will never change despite the changing times and seasons and that one thing is the word of God. Wasted times or seasons is only true in our thoughts and our hearts but when we are in Christ with all sincerity of purpose and desires, those moments becomes periods of preparation for something bigger as it was for David. You may be having tough times and seasons, moments you are unable to comprehend, the God who watches over David through his times and seasons will also watch over you; God does not desire and will not allow you to go through wasted times irrespective of delays and denials; fears and failures; lack of resources; the shame you hide, and the painful experiences that you cannot explain. Even in bad times and seasons, God is able to bring good thing out for you. David would have left when he saw those things but did not. “There is a season, a time appointed for everything and a time for every delight and event or purpose under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted. A time to kill and a time to heal; a time to tear down and a time to build up; a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance; a time to throw away stones and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to search and a time to give up as lost; a time to keep and a time to throw away; a time to tear apart and a time to sew together; a time to keep silent and a time to speak; a time to love and a time to hate; a time for war and a time for peace. What profit is there for the worker from that in which he labors? I have seen the task which God has given to the sons of men with which to occupy themselves. He has made everything beautiful and appropriate in its time. He has also planted eternity, a sense of divine purpose in the human heart, yet man cannot find out, what God has done, His overall plan from the beginning to the end.” Ecclesiastes 3:1-11.
