I HEARD HIM SAY TO ME -  WHAT DO YOU WANT?

This man was physically blind and had remained so for years, but his blindness did not prevent his ears from hearing, did not prevent his heart from considering something better, and did not stop him from speaking his mind and asking for his needs when he had an opportunity. His disability did not prevent him from having big dreams and big expectations and nothing did prevent him from expressing those dreams and expectations, or changing that expectation. To the people passing around him every day, he had the expectation to hear what was happening in the town that day and of help to meet his daily needs – he physically had to beg them for money, but when he stood before Christ Jesus that good and blessed day, he did not ask for money or arms, he did not ask Christ what he asked men; he asked for the impossible to be made possible, he did ask that his sight be restored, his eyes are open to see again, he asked for the big thing he had expected to him from what he heard Jesus can do, he asked something bigger and impossible for any man to do for him.

With the same expectation, he changed his words? Why the sudden change in the words he used when Christ Jesus called him to be brought before him from the ones he used in asking for arms to meet his needs? It was because of what he had heard from people in the past about Jesus Christ; he heard of the deeds of Jesus Christ from the testimonies of others passing by him every day; he heard of Christ divine ability to change situations, change lives, and give good testimonies from the people who had seen and experienced them before. He changed the focus of his expectation from man to God because Jesus Christ called for him to be brought before Him; he changed his expectation because he knew he was now standing before Jesus Christ the only one who can do the impossible for him; he changed his expectations because of the testimonies he has heard from others who had an encounter with Jesus Christ before.

“They came to Jericho, and as Jesus was leaving with His disciples and a large crowd, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus son of Timaeus was sitting by the road. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me. Many of the people scolded him and told him to be quiet. But he shouted even more loudly, Son of David, have mercy on me. Jesus stopped and said, call him. So they called the blind man. Cheer up they said. Get up, He is calling you. So he threw off his cloak, jumped up, and came to Jesus. What do you want me to do for you? Jesus asked him. Teacher, the blind man answered, I want to see again. Go, Jesus told him, your faith has made you well. At once he was able to see and followed Jesus on the road.” Mark 10:46-52

If what you expect men to do for you is the same as what you expect God to do for you, then you will not see the lasting joy you desire, your life will continue to be miserable, and you will never see the impossible accomplished despite all that you will ever do. Go to God with the impossible things in your life and situations, ask Him to do impossible not the possible things that men can do for you, ask Him to do what you cannot do for yourself despite the very best of your efforts and any given opportunity, ask Christ to do what men cannot do, what men had refused to do, and what men in their best generosity will never be able to give or do to you. This blind man knew what to ask from men and what to ask from God and when he had the opportunity, he did it and had the result he expected. It was an instant result, and instant fulfillment of expectations, and instant restoration of sight, of joy, and it was a celebration for that man from that day. God wants to take you to that realm today in what you ask and expect in your life. He wants to grant your request as He granted that of Jabez and this blind man. He is calling you, and asking, -- what do you want me to do for you? He knows what you want, but He is asking you to mention them. “Ask and you will receive, you will be given”. Matthew 7:7.
