"WHEN ALL HOPE WAS LOST GOD SPOKE (I)"

Post date: Jul 10, 2017 4:36:54 AM

When all hope fades, the vision seems to have failed and men were ready to tell Abram and Sarah that their God had failed, God spoke and His words restored their hope; when their efforts to get through their problem failed, God spoke to prove that it is not by might or by their power, but by His might and by His power alone will His words be fulfilled; when what they knew and thought failed, when knowledge seem insufficient and methods are failing to meet demands, God spoke to prove He is the custodian of knowledge that is effective and transforming; when Ideas could not satisfy their hunger and desire for what God had promised, God spoke to them in affirmation that He is still God and can still perform all of His promises to them; when their dreams could no longer sustain their expectations and the comfort of wealth was unable to give them individual and family peace, God spoke to prove that He can still give peace and comfort irrespective of the situation by fulfilling His promises; when delays was becoming a major source of concern and age was speaking against their dreams and desires, God spoke showing that there is absolutely nothing impossible for Him to do and prove to them that age and the passage of time or years is never a barrier to His plans and His ways for all of His children.

You may have lost your hope, but God had not lost memory of His promises to you. Abram was willing to continue in faith and to keep hope alive; he was willing to keep his trust and follow all instructions, he was ready to do all, believe all and obey all; he was ready to walk without doubt and fear; he was ready to give up all to have all, and he was ready to show everyone around him that He had decided to follow the words of God and will not turn his back from that path, but things were happening fast to destroy his testimony of God’s faithfulness and ability. I know many things had happened and much more will happen but none will take the place of God in your life and none will make His promises ineffective. Even when all hope is lost, God still remains truthful, faithful, committed, able, and willing to do as He had said in His promises to you. He is not affected by the changes in season and the contrary words and thoughts of men; He is not disappointed by the disappointments seeking to destroy you or plunge you into shame and agony; He is not discouraged by your fears and doubts, and He is not affected by any of the powers of darkness. Irrespective of your situation, God has a word and in due time He will perform it.

“Then they said to him, where is Sarah your wife? And he said, there, in the tent. He said, I will surely return to you at this time next year; and behold, Sarah your wife will have a son. And Sarah was listening at the tent door, which was behind him. Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in years; she was past the age of childbearing. So Sarah laughed to herself when she heard the Lord’s words, saying after I have become old, shall I have pleasure and delight, my lord being also old? And the Lord asked Abraham, why did Sarah laugh to herself, saying, shall I really give birth to a child when I am so old? Is anything too difficult or too wonderful for the Lord? At the appointed time, when the season for her delivery comes, I will return to you and Sarah will have a son. Then Sarah denied it, saying, I did not laugh; because she was afraid. And He said, no, but you did laugh. The Lord graciously remembered and visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for her as He had promised. So Sarah conceived and gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age, at the appointed time of which God had spoken to him. Abraham named his son Isaac, the son to whom Sarah gave birth. So Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, just as God had commanded him. Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born. Sarah said God has made me laugh; all who hear about our good news will laugh with me. And she said, who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? For I have given birth to a son by him in his old age. The child Isaac grew and was weaned and Abraham held a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.” Genesis 18:10-15; 21:1-8.
