Prayer is one thing that people do; it is a way life, it is demanded, it is practiced, it is necessary and it brings results. Prayer is essential in all religions, for all people in every nation but who we pray to matters, what we pray for matters, what we desire matters, what we do matters, and how we conduct ourselves after prayer matters. Prayers bring restoration, bring visions, give directions and raises hope. “When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place. For now, I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually” 2 Chronicles 7:14. Prayers will open the heaven that had been shut, it will enable the destroyer and the devourer to retreat, it will take away epidemics, plagues, diseases and sickness, it brings forgiveness of sin, it brings healing of the body and healing of our land, it draws God’s attention to us and draws His eyes and ears, and brings His attention to us. The power and benefits of prayers are unending and God never stops answering prayers.

“Now it shall come to pass when all these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you call them to mind among all the nations where the Lord your God drives you, and you return to the Lord your God and obey His voice, according to all that I command you today, you and your children, with all your heart and with all your soul, that the Lord your God will bring you back from captivity, and have compassion on you, and gather you again from all the nations where the Lord your God has scattered you. If any of you are driven out to the farthest parts under heaven, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you. Then the Lord your God will bring you to the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it. He will prosper you and multiply you more than your fathers. And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live.” Deuteronomy 30:1-6. Prayers enable us to glorify God, to preach and tell people of God’s true faithfulness and His mercies. It brings restoration and purification, it restores lost glory and lost heritage, It draws our soul, our heart, our visions, and our dreams towards God, It enables us to be productive physically and spiritually, it strengthens our faith and our obedience and opens the pathway for us to walk through even in difficult times.

“Let the priests who minister to the Lord weep between the porch and the altar, let them say spare Your people O Lord, and do not give Your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, Where is their God? Then the Lord will be zealous for His land and pity His people. The Lord will answer and say to His people, behold, I will send you grain and new wine and oil, and you will be satisfied by them, I will no longer make you a reproach among the nations.” Joel 2:17-19. Prayers take away reproaches, restored confidence in God and in His ability. Through prayers, God answers the questions that people ask us concerning our pains and afflictions, and as God answers them He gives us relieve and restores what had been stolen and destroyed.

It took prayers for Hannah to have what she desperately needed in life and in marriage; it took prayers for her to experience a turnaround, it took prayers for her enemies to respect her again after years of insults and humiliations, it took prayers for her confidence to return, it took prayers for her to exceed expectations, it took prayers for her to laugh joyfully, it took prayers for God to take away her barrenness and give her joy.
