THE GOOD THING TO DO

“Rejoice in the Lord always, delight, take pleasure in Him; again I will say, rejoice. Let your gentle spirit, your graciousness, unselfishness, mercy, tolerance, and patience be known to all people. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything, every circumstance and situation by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your specific requests known to God. And the peace of God, that peace which reassures the heart, that peace which transcends all understanding, that peace which stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus is yours. Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things, center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart. The things which you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things in daily life, and the God who is the source of peace and well-being will be with you.” Philippians 4:4-9

It will always be good to do what is good, to think what is good, to act on those good thoughts, to receive what is good, and to give what is good. That is where God wants you to be and do from now on, a good frame of mind irrespective of what you see, hear and experience. God will not do you any wrong; He will not allow you to suffer wrong indefinitely; will not fail to make a way out for you when it comes, and will not fail to give you better results. It will always be right to do what is good; it will always be acceptable to do what is good; it will always be necessary to do what is good; it will always be rewarding to do what is good; it will always be gladdening to the heart to receive what is good; doing good makes us happy, makes others happy and makes our God and His angels in heaven happy. Spiritual and physical happiness is based on the good things we see, hear, and do; the good helps, the good advice, the good promises, good attention and the good feelings we receive and give to others. Heaven is filled with all good things of life and there is nothing that will cause offense, anger or disappointment in heaven; nothing will be discouraging and nothing will ever seek to hold you back or hinder you. We are the children of the living God and the children of light and are heavenly bound through our salvation in Jesus Christ and His continuous love and help. The only person that is angry and will continue to be angry when we do what is good is Satan, and we are not his children and are not bound to make him happy. God wants every one of us to do what is good and right before Him and before men; Jesus Christ saved our souls so our flesh could be rescued from the powers of sin and wrongs.

It is quite clear in scriptures that God had called us to a life of excellence in all things but despite that call and our desires to do good, we still find ourselves doing what not so excellent before Him and in our relationship with others. Know it that Christ had redeemed us from the power of sin which is enabled by the feelings and knowledge of the flesh but despite that redemption, the sinful nature in man is always attracted to doing what they do not want to do after being saved. The flesh is part of us; it is very powerful; it can only be subdued and enabled to do what is good when it is willingly submitted to follow the words of God after our salvation. That is when our victory as Christians is secured; that is when our lives as Christians are elevated above the circumstances that curse anger and wrongdoing, and that is when we can truly proclaim the love of God working in and through us joyfully. The desire to do what is good is in every one, but the power to do them is not with anyone except God gives. The flesh is controlled by what we see, hear, and know, it wants to retaliate wrong for wrong; but the right thing to do is to follow what God says despite what we know, experience, hear and see. Believe, accept, follow and walk in God’s love and you will always do what is good and be rewarded by Him at the end. Prayers Click here
