THE EVERLASTING LOVE

“At that time, says the Lord, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they will be My people. Thus says the Lord: The people who survived the sword found favor in the wilderness when Israel sought to find rest. The Lord appeared from of old to me, saying, Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn you and continued My faithfulness to you. Again I will build you and you will be built, O Virgin Israel! You will again be adorned with your timbrel and go forth in the dancing of those who make merry. Again you shall plant vineyards upon the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant and make the fruit common and enjoy it. For there shall be a day when the watchmen on the hills of Ephraim shall cry out, Arise, and let us go up to Zion, to the Lord our God. For thus says the Lord: Sing aloud with gladness for Jacob, and shout for the head of the nations. Proclaim, praise, and say, The Lord has saved His people, the remnant of Israel” Jeremiah 31:1-7.

God’s kind of love to all of humanity is everlasting, unrestricted  unrelenting, encouraging, transforming, elevating, translating, affects every gender in every location, in every profession, every language and does not discriminate in anyway. It is far beyond the full comprehension of the best words, best ideas, best wisdom, best actions and best thoughts of all human beings. It is the love that only God can give, can sustain and can make protect.

This love to all humanity is older than man and began showing itself on earth the very day God began His creation (Genesis 1:1). Human beings began noticing this kind of love right from the very day God gave man in His own perfect image and perfect likeness, giving all human beings His own breath, and by making man a living soul thereafter. Through this same everlasting love, God gave man dominion of everything He had created and made to exist in the entire universe, on land, in the air, and in the sea, and also by placing man in the Garden of Eden.

Through these same everlasting love, God did not turn His back on Adam and Eve when they faulted in obeying His instruction but rather cursed the serpent, He did kill Cain in retaliation for killing his brother Abel. Through that same love, He provision for Noah to escape the flood, called Abraham to follow Him, made provision for the Isaac and Jacob in their difficult times, took the children of Israel out of bondage in Egypt and through the pains of wilderness. Through that love, He kept them safe, provided for them, fought their enemies, and successfully established in the exact place He had promised their forefather Abraham.

Through that same love, God anointed David and established him on the throne as promised despite the efforts of King Saul and his men to stop him. Again, God showed to human beings that this love is everlasting by sending His only begotten son Jesus Christ to the world to die in order to reconcile man back to God, bring many to salvation, and stop the devil from having continuous dominance in man’s affairs, and enabled many to have peace with self and with God.

The positive effects of God’s everlasting love on us are too many to be enumerated; they are endless in all aspects of life, and they are worth craving for every moment of the day.

Through this love, like the children of Israel in Egypt, we survive the sword of the wicked, and the sword of adversities and lacks. Through this love, we have grace in our various wildernesses. Through this love, we see and experienced the hands of God in the things we are engaged in doing, God forgive our past and set us on the path of achieving His promises which is our dreams and visions. Through this love, He builds and rebuilds us daily, adorned us with His goodness, gave us the grace to go forth in the dance and rejoicing, gave us the power to plant our vines, harvest, and eat the same. Through this love, He showed Himself in our lives and gave us the assurance that we shall be with Him in heaven when Jesus Christ shall come with His angels on the last day.
