YOU SHALL NOT DIE

There is nothing as sweet to the heart, relieving and hopeful to the mind and body in one’s most difficult and troubling times as receiving an assurance from your most trusted source when you run out of options and confused on what next to do, when you are constantly tormented for no justifiable reason and when you face severe penalty or death for doing no evil.

The presence of wicked adversaries in some one’s life is never desirable but their presence can bring you to doing some good things you never think of or plan of doing in life. They may help you to develop strong faith, devote your time and days in praying important prayers you have neglected before to pray in your life. Before David’s adversaries, He was known for praising and pleasing God in His activities, but the presence of adversaries added another aspect to David’s life, he became a prayer warrior and a great intercessor.

The fear of his adversaries in the person of King Saul compelled him to go on his knees more often in prayers than all other accomplishments in his life. Everyone has an adversary, but the word of God is that you shall not die because of that adversary. What good thing does your present adversary make you to do that you never did before? When adversary comes, many people spent their time in anger, revenge, regrets and regressions; some in verbal abuse and physical confrontations, some in drinking and indulging in more immoral acts, some spent their time gossiping, backbiting and conceiving more wickedness. As a child of God, it is quite certain that adversaries will arise, but what you do in such moments can bring you closer to your God or distance you from His presence. It can take you closer to your bible or take it away from you. It can bring you closer to the promises of God for your life or distance you.

After the anointing of David by Samuel and after killing goliath, David was drafted to the palace for his next divine assignment, to appease Saul’s illness through music; there he was constantly confronted with real attempts to take his life. In his confusion, he found trusted friendship in Jonathan and obtained an assuring promise; “God forbid, you shall not die”

“Jonathan said, God forbid. You shall not die. My father does nothing great or small but what he tells me. And why should he hide this thing from me? It is not so. But David replied, your father certainly knows that I have found favor in your eyes, and he thinks, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved. But truly as the Lord lives and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death. Then Jonathan said to David, whatever you desire, I will do for you. 1 Samuel 20:1-4. That was what David needed to be sure of his next move and security, and thank God he got it. You have greater assurance from Christ Jesus in everything?

“For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He gave up His only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; no rejection, no condemnation, no damnation]; but he who does not believe is judged already, he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence, because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ’s name.” John 3:16-18

Despite the situation in your life, there will always be a source of relieve that is proven right, a source that is quite capable of turning things around and giving you the freedom you deserve. Believing in and trusting in a promise, following and relying on the person who promised has great healing and relieving effect on you. The promises of God will never fail irrespective of the source of resistance against it, because God is quite able to defend and to fulfill all of His of promises if you will continuously trust, rely, and follow Him.
