"HOW MOSES OVERCAME DEPRESSION AND SELF- REJECTION"

There are several things that cause self-rejection but none is beyond the power of our God to set us free, to bless us and use us thereafter for His glory. The secret of Moses was the statement he received an assurance from God at his moments of shame. “Then He said I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God. The Lord said I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land a land flowing with milk and honey, the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:6-10. Why did God choose Moses? God knew Moses will be absolutely faithful to Him.

There is nothing as encouraging and gladdening to the heart as one receiving an assurance from the God before engaging on a mission, before pursuing a dream, a desire, before trusting a vision and plans, before following the path of that desire, before saying yes and accepting offers in life. The assurance from God does not come cheap, you have to seek it with all your heart and invest yourself submissively to Him, and you have to be patient and focused entirely on Him. Though God’s assurance does not come cheap, He is willing to give to everyone who desires to follow Him with sincerity of purpose. The first point is a right wholehearted desire. It amazes me to read how God personally refer Moses to His past miraculous actions in the lives of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. In His love, He took a personal decision to promise Abraham, to walk with him, blessed him, intervened in his life, direct his steps, deliver him, and fulfill all His words to him, and how He enabled Isaac and Jacob to inherit His promises to Abraham in their lifetime. God made that statement to enable Moses to accept the call, overcome self-rejection and to be ready for the mission ahead. This referral by God was as a result of the prayers of the children of Israel and their cries when they were constantly abused, restricted, painfully used, their freedom forcefully taken, in need of relieve; when they were under severe and constant oppression in their slavery, and when they did not like what they were doing daily.

God did not make these statement as a boast of His ability, but to boast Moses confidence, to encourage Moses to make the move, to keep Moses focused on Him and trust Him, to give him the personal conviction he needed to get out of his sorrows, out of his self-rejection, out of his low self-esteem, accept the offer, and take up the mission offered with the joy that as God was with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, so will He be with him in the mission ahead. And this is the assurance God is giving to you today. Like Moses, there are several things desiring to keep us back from the promise, back from the mission and keep us deep in depression and self-rejection, but everyone who believes in the Almighty God, waits on Him, follows Him, prays for anything, and has this expectation to see God’s testimonies in their lives. When such expectations come to be fulfilled, no one will be able to fault it, no one will be able to deny it, resist it, and no one will ever be the same again from that time forward, that will happen with undeniable manifestation. Abraham was a success, Isaac was a success, Jacob was a success, Moses was a success and you will be a success. God was proud of them and will be proud of you also. Like that of Moses, this is your assurance as a believer in Jesus Christ today, the blood of Jesus is sufficient, His word is able and His plans will make a way for you to overcome and be a success. “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8. Prayer Request Click here
