HEZEKIAH, GOD SAID I WILL HEAL YOU

Despite being told God said 'you will die, you will not recover and prepare your house', that same God sent the same prophet, within some moments on the same day and in the same place to tell Hezekiah, I will heal you. What a moment of restoration of hope for Hezekiah; what a time to wipe out tears and turn from bitterness, had a moment to see expectation restored. There is real power when we turn to God in prayers with all our hearts and mind; there is the restoration of hope and peace and comfort when we pray to our God. Prayer activates divine power, divine intervention, divine restoration, and divine help. When we pray, God answers, when He answers with His love and power, amazing things begin to happen as was the case with Hezekiah. My prayer for you is that you will find peace in your prayers and God will answer you as He did for Hezekiah and took away his sorrows, his sadness, his weeping, and his bitterness immediately.

The first news was Hezekiah was ill and was at the point of death. The first message from God to Hezekiah through prophet Isaiah was ‘prepare to die, put your house in order now’. The second message to him was ‘you are going to die’, and the third message was ‘you will not recover’. But despite what Hezekiah heard and knew in these three messages, he did not turn away his hope for a change from God, he did not say it is finished, but he immediately acted and turned to God and wept and prayed bitterly. Thank God for He is always merciful, He is always there when we call and open our hearts to Him, He is always there to take us beyond our own best expectations and the expectations of all men including the expectations of our wicked and powerful life enemies. Before Prophet Isaiah could the place where he delivered the sad message to Hezekiah, God gave His answer to the prayers of Hezekiah and sent the same prophet back to him with new news, a new message, a sign, and a promise. What a God who comforts His children in all situations and in all circumstances. I pray that your comfort will come, your relief will come, your hope and joy will be restored, and your moment of change will not pass by.

God’s new message to Hezekiah was to be delivered to him immediately and the result was to be seen in three days by all men when contrary to expectations he will show up in the temple of the Lord to worship. “Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, this is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says; I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now, you will go up to the temple of the Lord. I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.” 2 Kings 20:5-6. God did not just answer Hezekiah with a word, He did not just heal his body, God healed him, gave him a promise, and reminded him of His covenant with David.

The answer was immediate, it was beyond expectation, it came with a word, with a promise, and with a sign that were all fulfilled immediately. Today, despite the disappointments and the delays in our lives, God is still answering prayers, He is still healing people, He is still opening up doors that had been closed, He is still setting free the captives, He is still blessing the righteous, lifting up the downtrodden, and supporting the good course of His children. Irrespective of your name, age, profession, situation, church affiliation, prayer is important even when it seems nothing is happening in your life and your situation is not changing for good. If you are a Christian, saved by grace through Jesus Christ, you will definitely have to believe that prayers works, it brings results and rewards that men cannot offer. Prayer reaching places and people we cannot reach or see, it turns things around and turns us around for good. It keeps our eyes, hearts, and minds on Christ and it elevates our hopes and expectations despite the difficulties we have and our daily experiences with people. Jesus Christ prayed, taught His disciples to pray, asked us to pray, and the scripture emphasizes we should not cease from praying. For prayers, Click here
