WHAT JESUS DID WHEN HIS DISCIPLES CRIED

“Now on one of those days Jesus and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, let us cross over to the other side of the lake, Sea of Galilee. So they set out. But as they were sailing, He fell asleep. And a fierce gale of wind swept down as if through a wind tunnel on the lake, and they began to be swamped, and were in great danger. They came to Jesus and woke Him, saying, Master, Master, we are about to die. He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging, violent waves, and they ceased, and it became calm, a perfect peacefulness. And He said to them, where is your faith, your confidence in Me? They were afraid and astonished, saying to one another, Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the sea, and they obey Him?” Luke 8:22-25. There is s giant inside your life despite the storms that are against you and the fears in your heart of how the storm will end and what the storm may do to your life.

Did you read what Jesus did and said to them? (1) He was inside the boat with the disciples but was asleep; Jesus Christ may be sleeping in your life but He is never absent; His sleeping was not a sign of weakness or absentmindedness; His sleeping does not mean He was not interested in the living condition of His disciples and in their troubles. His sleeping was to enable all of them discover something in themselves and use them; it was for them to discover their faith, use their faith and confirm their faith in times of trouble. Did you that God had given everyone a measure of faith and you will have to discover it in your life, use it, and confirm that faith will definitely produce a result in all situations. All you need is a little faith like the size of a mustard seed to move your mountains. The faith in you is activated when you cry to God in your trouble; that is when you will have to wake Him up through the use of your words as the disciples did when they cried and their voice woke Him from sleep. Christ Jesus will hear your cry for help.

The second thing He did (2) He asked them where is your faith? Every believer in Jesus Christ had a deposit of His faith in their lives. His expectation was that the disciples will use their faith, but they rather preferred calling on Him. Christ has the same expectations today in all of us. He wants us to use to develop and use what He had freely deposited in us as His children. Your faith can make a difference; can change situations, can confirm a miracle and can give you the victory you need in life. Faith is trusting God absolutely; active faith is speaking the word of God to all situations and expecting God to confirm His words; faith is having your eyes, your thoughts and your expectation on Him and knowing He will never fail and He will not disappoint you. Faith is remaining faithful to His words of promises until the very end.

The last thing He did (3) was to get up, rebuked the wind and the raging, violent waves with His words, and it was confirmed that the raging water and the violent wind ceased immediately and became calm and the disciples were amazed to watch that happen after they had toiled and fear had overwhelmed their hearts. Did you think Jesus Christ will refuse to wake up on hearing your cry for help? Did you think He will keep silent on you and your situation indefinitely? No, it is not in His character to keep silent on His children, it is not to His advantage to do that; He will never keep silent on you. He is ever merciful, compassionate, and ever faithful to His promises and to His words; ever loving, and ever faithful in doing that which will glorify the Father in your life. What is the storm trying to overwhelm or is overwhelming or had overwhelmed you already? What is the storm that had been consistently stubborn and fearless in your life despite your prayers and fasting in the Lord Jesus Christ? Even in that very storm there is hope, there is someone to help, there is someone to calm the storm; there is someone to still the raging waters; there is someone to walk into your life; there is someone to speak a word with power and with authority that the storm will hear, understand, comply and vanish as Jesus did. Christ Jesus is not leaving you defenseless. He is calming your storm right now. Click here for prayer
