“After this, Jesus went to Jerusalem for a religious festival. Near the Sheep Gate in Jerusalem there is a pool with five porches; in Hebrew, it is called Bethzatha. A large crowd of sick people were lying on the porches, the blind, the lame, and the paralyzed. A man was there who had been sick for thirty-eight years. Jesus saw him lying there, and He knew that the man had been sick for such a long time; so He asked him, do you want to get well? The sick man answered, Sir, I don't have anyone here to put me in the pool when the water is stirred up; while I am trying to get in, somebody else gets there first. Jesus said to him, get up, pick up your mat, and walk. Immediately the man got well; he picked up his mat and started walking. The day this happened was a Sabbath, so the Jewish authorities told the man who had been healed, this is a Sabbath, and it is against our Law for you to carry your mat. He answered, the man who made me well told me to pick up my mat and walk. They asked him, who is the man who told you to do this?” John 5:1-12

This man had been sick for thirty-eight years, he had maintained his hope for a day of healing for thirty-eight years; he waited, prayed, and expected something new to happen to him throughout the  thirty-eight years. Despite the long years of waiting, this man never left the place and spot of his expectation, he never abandons his faith and his hope even when others abandoned him and left, he never stops giving himself a try every time the water was stirred, in the end, Jesus Christ walk to him, he saw Him and he heard him speak. This man was not disappointed, his faith brought him healing, his hope became a reality, he heard a voice speaking his expectations, he obeyed the voice, stood up by faith, walked home healed and well to the amazement of those who had since left him due to frustration on that same spot.

Afflictions and its consequences have their time, but they will bow at the voice of Jesus Christ you heard and obey; Satan, sin and their consequences have their time but they cannot resist the blood of Jesus and cannot stand His voice when you hear and obey. This man was frustrated because of the number of years he was at that spot expecting but he never gave up hope and never lave the place, his friends and relatives left but he stayed back with determination, hope, faith, and expectation. The number of years did not deter him, the departure of friends and family did not discourage him, the delays in his healing did not deter mind, and above all, his meeting with Jesus Christ that day brought his hope, faith, and expectations to a joyful end with testimony for others to hear and see. He attributed his wellness and healing to the voice of command he heard and his obedience to that voice. What is Christ saying to you right now in His word and in your mind? What is the Holy Spirit asking you to do right now? The voice of the Holy Spirit is only heard by those He dwells in and He is speaking to you right now in your heart and in your situation, will you obey? will you act? This man I heard Him speak and acted.

You will win this battle, you will overcome this obstacle; you will stand up from every fall, you will be strong and active again, you will recover everything that Satan had stolen, forcefully, or deceitfully taken from you in any manner; you will have the peace that will guide you from now on despite the questions from men; you will be in the place that God had destined for you. It is very certain that by His power your change will come, your deliverance will be perfected, and your expectations in Him will be fulfilled. Unlike men and all other things in the world than can fail or disappoint, Jesus Christ will never fail neither will He disappoint as we put your trust, our hope, our confidence, and our life in His hands. His blood was not in vain, His word is not in vain, and our Salvation by His grace will not also be in vain. Those waiting, watching, and praying to see or hear something new in you will definitely see it; they will hear it, and they will know you have been changed for the best. Those waiting, watching, and praying that you should remain in weakness, sickness, and lack will be disappointed. For prayers, Click here
