SOLOMON WAS DIVINELY CONNECTED

One of the secrets of fully benefiting in a godly divine connection is purposely making yourself always available and actively participating, not helping, in the affairs of the person God had divinely you connected with. We saw this in the relationship between Elisha and Elisha, he was always available and participating even when persuaded to stay back, he refused: Ruth purposely insisted to follow Naomi irrespective of what will happen to her for staying beside her: Esther and Mordicai, despite being crowned the most beautiful woman in the country and confirmed to be the best wife of the King, she refused to give up her closeness and obedience to Mordicai.

Such availability may be often painful but it will definitely and always bring a great reward. That was one of the secrets of Solomon being crowned the King after his father. Unlike David’s other children, Solomon was closer to the father, always available in the temple and at home with him, observing his actions and his judgments, learning directly and indirectly of how he worships God and how he takes on the affairs of the people who came to him demanding truth and justice.

Solomon went beyond the father-son relationship with his David; he discovered early and did all within his power to maintained the divine connection that was trusted and reliable at all times in such a way that when other children were going to the extremes to enjoy themselves as the kings sons and revolting in their desire for pleasure, David found peace, confidence and closeness in Solomon. Let your divine connection be established in your trust; let there be confidence of you in the heart of the other person, and never let the bond of closeness be broken because very soon, there will be a need and the person who is close will be picked to fulfill the need.

King Solomon had all physical odds against him never to succeed King David by the reason of how his mother was married to King David, and by reason of being the last born of the king. No one gave Solomon the slightest chance, but when God wanted someone, Solomon was rightly picked, anointed and confirmed. I pray that you will not miss out, and that you will receive the blessings and the confirmation in this godly divine connection as Solomon did despite all the odds against him from the family and from those who knew his background.

This was what happened: “Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king; and he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him. And his father had not rebuked him at any time by saying, why have you done so? He was also very good-looking. His mother had borne him after Absalom.” 1 Kings 1:5-6

This is what God did: I pray this will be your portion in everything you do. “Then King David answered and said, call Bathsheba to me. So she came into the king’s presence and stood before the king. And the king took an oath and said, as the Lord lives, who has redeemed my life from every distress, just as I swore to you by the Lord God of Israel, saying, assuredly Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place, so I certainly will do this day. And King David said, call to me Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. So they came before the king, the king also said to them, take with you the servants of your lord, and have Solomon my son ride on my own mule, and take him down to Gihon. There let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him king over Israel; and blow the horn, and say, Long live King Solomon. Then you shall come up after him, and he shall come and sit on my throne, and he shall be king in my place. For I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and Judah. Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king and said, Amen. May the Lord God of my lord the king say so too. As the Lord has been with my lord the king, even so may He be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David.” 1 Kings 1:28-37.
