LET US PRAY TO OUR FATHER (2)

Hannah was a Jew by birth, raised up as a Jew, married to a Jew, continued in the Jewish ways of beliefs and traditions; she knew the Almighty God, worshipped Him, and honored Him. She never missed the annual gatherings of the faithful, she never missed the worship, and she never missed the sacrifices at Shiloh, but none of those things brought her the happiness she needed, none brought her the pressing needs of her heart, and none of them did change her life the way she wanted until the day she decided to personally do something different from others, to commit herself to prayers, to open her heart to God and make a personal request. It was that her decision, that personal commitment, and her determination to actually pray to God that brought her the joy she needed for years, that brought her the peace she desired for years, that brought her the honor and respect she wanted and brought her to the place of her expectation in her marriage. By all convictions, her prayer changed her life, changed her situation and changed the way people look at her from that very day.

When God grant prayers, things will change, situations will change, dreams and desires, and all afflictions will change, people around you will it change their views and you will also change. Prayer changes things and changes people. Hannahs prayers were specific and from her heart, she prayed out of the abundance of her heart and complains and grief. In her prayers to God that day, Hannah opened her heart to talk to God about the everyday thoughts in her heart, the complains in the situation in her marriage and she addressed her grief from the pains of being without a child, the pian from insults she receives, and the public humiliations. She spoke to God about every situation in her life physically and spiritually. She was very specific in her prayers and in her request before God, she repeated the prayers until Eli the priest noticed and spoke to her. She knew what she wanted and never allowed her husband or the priest to hinder her determination.

“Then Elkanah her husband said to her, Hannah, why do you weep? Why do you not eat? And why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons? So Hannah arose after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat by the doorpost of the tabernacle of the Lord. And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish. Then she made a vow and said, O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head. And it happened, as she continued praying before the Lord, that Eli watched her mouth. Now Hannah spoke in her heart, only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk. So Eli said to her, how long will you be drunk? Put your wine away from you. But Hannah answered and said, no, my lord, I am a woman of sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor intoxicating drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord. Do not consider your maidservant a wicked woman, for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief I have spoken until now.” 1 Samuel 1:8-16

When prayers are true, real, consistent, with a determination, and are in accord with God’s plans, words, and purpose for you and for His desires, He answers. Hannah went home from that trip with a higher hope, with assurance, with peace in her heart and with great expectations and God did not disappoint her. Not until you have peace in your prayers irrespective of the prevailing situation, not until you have a strong hope in our Lord Jesus Christ and in His faithfulness, not until you have assurance in and from His words and from the Holy Spirit that He gives to dwell in you, not until you are determined to pray consistently despite the attacks like Hannah did, do not expect results. Satan attacks prayers through weakness, confusions and the inconsistency, but when he fails in stopping you, good things will begin happening. For prayers, Click here
