LORD, DIRECT MY STEPS

Post date: Jul 12, 2012 8:23:14 AM

Divine direction, this is the prayer of all Christians the world over irrespective of denomination, and location, and we really need it. Unbelievers also do wish their steps be directed in the things they do each day. What a joy will it be if no one will ever make mistake in life, but this will never be, no one ever make a mistake deliberately. Though mistakes are never desired, God also uses it sometimes to preserve our lives, keep us from falling too far from His plans. Mistakes often lead to correction and perfection.

God’s desire is to keep us in the very best of His plans and purpose in all situations, but in the use of the gift of our free-will, we often stray off God’s path for our lives, and that necessitated the need for us to constantly pray, asking God to direct our steps each day. Though we have different desires and plans each day in divers’ things, God has only one plan for us; to lead us to success in life in our desires and endeavors. And this is what He says;

“For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome. Then you will call upon Me, and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear and heed you. Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart” Jeremiah 29:11-13(AMP)

For God to direct our steps there are certain things we must have to do, submit our hearts to Him and He will thereafter direct our path. Knowledge is one of the best thing to happen to man, and wisdom is the best thing to rely on to avoid mistakes, but not until we allow the thoughts of our heart to be led by what we know which had been proven right from creation, we will never derive any benefit from them. For God to direct our steps, we have to order our hearts according to His words despite our condition and experiences.

God directing our path will involve our thoughts, words, desires, and our dreams. Every action we take each day are governed by these four things, and once the heart is made right with God through willing submission, and readiness to follow His plans even when it hurts, then He will direct our steps. Please, and please again, never allow your actions each day, to be governed by the activities of people around you, (what they say and do), be deliberately governed by these four things each day and your life will be a meaningful impart to yourself and to others. God will always direct your steps to where there is peace and joy for you, and if you find yourself in a contrary situation, He will still direct your step out of it peacefully with all safety.

“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. The eye is the lamp of the body. So if your eye is sound, your entire body will be full of light. But if your eye is unsound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the very light in you [your conscience] is darkened, how dense is that darkness. No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise and be against the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (deceitful riches, money, possessions, or whatever is trusted in). Matthew 6:21-24 (AMP)

God will only lead our steps through His words we keep and meditate in our hearts daily. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” Psalm 119:105. This is the practical way “Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding” Proverbs 3:5. God’s plan takes a man beyond the realm of hope, to the realm of practical reality in all things. As you invest yourself in prayers for direction, and give your heart to Him, believe that He will direct your path to the where you should be in life.
