BEHOLD, I HAVE DONE ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD

There is some request that is answered instantly, some latter, some delayed for a while and some rejected outrightly. The reasons for answering instantly, delayed or rejected may vary depending on the issue at hand, the plans of God for your life at that moment, the plans of God for you in the near future, and your mindset for the request. It is very certain that God will never answer prayer request that will enable you to sin, continue in sin, go against His plans, disrespect His words, His desires, His precepts, and His commandments. He is committed to helping and enabling you to walk in His ways to fulfill His plans for your life, He will not shift grounds. When the request pleases Him and the intent matches His plans for you in that situation and location, He will give you an instant answer.

God did not promise He will grant Solomon’s request that faithful day, He told him outrightly, I have done that already, I have granted them already and I have added more than you request. What a day it was for Solomon, what a joy he had and what a moment it was for him to hear such an instant answer and confirmation. God granted Solomon much more than he requested and gave reasons for doing that. We read how the simple and single request of Solomon was perceived by the Lord: “The speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. Then God said to him; because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you. And I have also given you what you have not asked; both riches and honor so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days. So if you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days. Then Solomon awoke, and indeed it had been a dream. And he came to Jerusalem and stood before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, offered up burnt offerings, offered peace offerings, and made a feast for all his servants.” 1 Kings 3:10-15

It was a simple prayer for wisdom, not knowing how it will come but Solomon requested for it because he knew God has more than enough to meet every need. Solomon knew wisdom will sustain him as he was being disrespected by others; he knew that wisdom will keep him on the throne for good; he knew wisdom give him victory against the people waiting and watching to see him make mistakes, fall, fail, and be dethrone; he knew wisdom will establish him beyond the help of the elders and counselors on the throne, and he knew wisdom will help him rule with justice. In asking your request before God, examine your motives, the impact of your request in your life, in the lives of others, and in the desires of God.

Solomon asked God for only wisdom, and God gave him wisdom above everyone else; He also added the following that Solomon did not ask God that day. (1) Riches, (2) Honor, (3) Long life and a promise to even do more. Note that it was wisdom that made Solomon rich, God made him rich by giving him riches and honor. Wisdom only enabled Solomon to properly manage all the things that God gave him. Wisdom distinguished him and brought him respect and acceptance by the people and the neighbors. Despite the initial troubles that Solomon had, God’s wisdom made him distinguished and respected; made his enemies flee, and gave him the strength and boldness to stand and command the duties of kingship with authority and justice. What are or what is your request before God in your current situation? Is it to defeat your enemies or to bring honor to God such that your enemies will see God working His ways in your life and giving you victory on every side as He gave to Solomon? God wants to take the honor in your life and He wants to establish in His presence through grace. He will not fail you. For prayers, Click here
