“When the Lord was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were traveling from Gilgal. And Elijah said to Elisha, stay here, for the Lord has told me to go to Bethel. But Elisha replied, as surely as the Lord lives and you yourself live, I will never leave you. So they went down together to Bethel. The group of prophets from Bethel came to Elisha and asked him, did you know that the Lord is going to take your master away from you today? Of course I know, Elisha answered. But be quiet about it. Then Elijah said to Elisha, stay here, for the Lord has told me to go to Jericho. But Elisha replied again, as surely as the Lord lives and you yourself live, I will never leave you. So they went on together to Jericho. Then the group of prophets from Jericho came to Elisha and asked him, did you know that the Lord is going to take your master away from you today? Of course I know, Elisha answered. But be quiet about it. Then Elijah said to Elisha, stay here, for the Lord has told me to go to the Jordan River. But again Elisha replied, as surely as the Lord lives and you yourself live, I will never leave you. So they went on together. Fifty men from the group of prophets also went and watched from a distance as Elijah and Elisha stopped beside the Jordan River. Then Elijah folded his cloak together and struck the water with it. The river divided, and the two of them went across on dry ground. When they came to the other side, Elijah said to Elisha; tell me what I can do for you before I am taken away. And Elisha replied, please let me inherit a double share of your spirit and become your successor. You have asked a difficult thing, Elijah replied. If you see me when I am taken from you, then you will get your request. But if not, then you won’t. 2 Kings 2:1-10.

As an aspiring Christian set aside by the Almighty God through Christ Jesus and His grace to receive increase in all fronts, to experience greater successes, and to do many exploits that will glorify the His name on earth, it is imperative that you will never in any never undermine the power of being divinely connected and remaining connected with God and with other godly people having and showing impeccable Christian standing. It is within your capacity to do all you can to maintain that connection, to sacrifice all you can to keep that connection flourishing, to absolutely humble yourself to enhance that connection and at the end of it to reap the hundred fold reward of that connection.

When you are truly and divinely connected, you must earnestly expect many positive things to begin happening in everything that will ever concern your life. God grace God had saved your soul through His salvation, and by grace also He is setting you up for greater blessings after that salvation and that will definitely happen through a firmly established divine connection. God expects you to receive a greater benefit with every contact you have and maintain with any of the people He had called to carry out His work on earth. God will not allow you to go empty handed in such a connection even when the servant of God you are following does not know what God has designed for you through that connection.

Unlike other students in the same school of Prophets, Elisha was one person who discovered early in his Christian journey the need for a relationship with Elijah and the need to develop and maintain a vibrant divine connection; unlike others, to sacrifice all he had without compulsion to establish a divine connection, and to humble himself to receive the fullness of such a connection, and thank God his investment for that relationship paid off handsomely a hundredfold and over.

There would never have been a Prophet Elisha without maintaining a divine connection with Prophet Elijah; there would never have been a divine transfer of grace; transfer of anointing; patting of river Jericho; transfer of power, and working of miracle in a greater dimension from Elijah to Elisha without that divine connection being maintained to the very last seconds till the time Elijah separation from Elisha by the fire from heaven.
