THE BATTLE AND THE WEAPON (3)

The Goliath that David fought against was known and called a champion by people in the camp with him; the children of Israel also knew him and called him a champion, but before the Almighty God, he was a man designated to be used in glorifying God in the life of David and confirming the plans of God in David’s life in that very battle before the children of Israel. Though the armies of Israel were afraid of his height, size, and armor, David was not afraid of this man's name, or title, or height, or armor. Fear can cost you to retreat or surrender or turn back from the victory God had already given to you. Fear of what you see now, fear of what you know now, and fear of what you have experienced before can cost you to give up the faith you have in Christ and your years of testimony and blessings from Him. What is in the name or title or wealth of a man that you are afraid of? God can change all of that in a moment for your sake and for the sake of what He had called you, anointed you, chosen you, and appointed you to be and to do for His glory as He did for David against Goliath. Trust God for His works in your life and through you and for you at all times.

“Then Goliath, a Philistine champion from Gath, came out of the Philistine ranks to face the forces of Israel. He was over nine feet tall. He wore a bronze helmet, and his bronze coat of mail weighed 125 pounds. He also wore bronze leg armor, and he carried a bronze javelin on his shoulder. The shaft of his spear was as heavy and thick as a weaver’s beam, tipped with an iron spearhead that weighed 15 pounds. His armor bearer walked ahead of him carrying a shield.”1 Samuel 17:4-7. On seeing Goliath physique, seeing his advantaged height, sighting all his large weapons, guards, and weapons for self-defense, David would have given up but he did not; he would have run out and run back to his parents but he did not, but David decided rather to run forward, to go after Goliath, to take the challenge, to stand up for what was to come, to risk his life for his coming future, to give himself up so he could by any means receive what God had freely given to him, to put his head out so he can wear the crown, and to stand up in the name of the Almighty God to deliver Israel. David knew the risk involve like Saul and others in the camp, but David did not give up, David knew Goliath was strong but he decided to give himself a try, David knew people were watching and He also knew God was watching and will help him. At the end after the victory, all the armies of Israel and King Saul who were watching from a distance came close and raised David up as the real champion and the people sang a song in his honor and for the victory. Those watching from a distance to see what God will do will come close to celebrate you soon.

“Don’t worry about this Philistine, David told Saul. I’ll go fight him. Don’t be ridiculous Saul replied. There’s no way you can fight this Philistine and possibly win. You’re only a boy, and he’s been a man of war since his youth. But David persisted. I have been taking care of my father’s sheep and goats, he said. When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death. I have done this to both lions and bears, and I’ll do it to this pagan Philistine, too, for he has defied the armies of the living God. The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine. Saul finally consented. All right, go ahead, he said. And may the Lord be with you. 1 Samuel 17:32-37. And the Almighty God was truly with David. That same God is and will always be with you, for you, and will deliver you in every and from every situation that comes your way. As you look forward to victory, as you face adversities and uncertainties in life, do what David did before King Saul remember and recall your past testimonies of salvation in Christ Jesus.
