THE ANOINTING COMES WITH POWER (3)

Did you note the statement of John the Baptist in John 1:19-34 that it took the power of the Holy Spirit for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to be revealed, recognized and known publicly? Did you note that even with the true evidence of the word of God to the people of Israel then, the true story of His divine conception by Mary and the true story of His birth, Jesus Christ needed the power of the Holy Spirit before being accepted, believed and recognized? John said, “I was told whom you see the Holy Spirit descend on and remain on, He, is the Messiah” John 1:33. That is a testimony that needs no further verification because John the Baptist confessed he actually saw it happen and testifies to the reality of the word of God as true. The Holy Spirit, His works, and His power have something to do in your life and in whatever you are called to do as a Christian personally or professionally. It will take the presence of the power of the Holy Spirit of God to reveal what God had sent you on earth for, what He had endowed you with and what He will enable you to do in this life and nothing else. Christians seeking to be perfect in doing the will of God without the Holy Spirit has missed the way and the path God wants them to follow and will never attain to the full standard needed by God irrespective of their knowledge and the means they may want to use; irrespective of their education, location, personality, wealth or position.

Where is the talent God had given you before you were born? Where are the gifts He had bestowed on you for His services and your blessing? Where is the evidence of your Christianity after all the years of following Him? And where is the evidence that God had called you to do what you are doing right now? They are all embedded in the power of the Holy Spirit to reveal them in you and to confirm them in your life before men.

Speaking to Zerubbabel the prince of Judah and priest, God told him clearly, it is not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit.” Zechariah 4:6. The Holy Spirit of God is still active today as it was in the days of Zechariah; it is still relevant today as it was in the days of Christ Jesus and it is still needed today as it was in the days of the Apostles. The power of the Holy Spirit is assigned to quicken us in ways that will bring us to the fullness of God; in ways that will reveal the truth of the Scriptures and gospel of Jesus Christ; quickens us in ways that will keep you in that truth; quickens us in ways that will establish us in faith and in the presence of God and in the things we are called to do on earth; quickens us in ways that establishes the words of God in our hearts and confirm His purpose and prove His existence; quickens us to have understanding and not to give up when challenged or when in difficult situations. The Holy Spirit quickens the word of God in our hearts and thoughts when we are faced with a decision in situations we never thought will ever happen to us. Christ Jesus said this to His disciples; “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63. The power of the Holy Spirit enables believers to have the life of Christ and to live the life of Christ today and always. When the power of the Holy Spirit is active in our lives as Christians, He will direct our ways and thoughts always; He will use us for God’s glory always and in every place; he will command and commend us before God and man; He will correct us, convict us and humble us to know that whatever we will be doing thereafter is Christ working in us by His spirit and not by our own power or strength or knowledge or wealth or wisdom. You may be dormant, but that will soon end, you may be in trouble and wondering how and when it will end, that also will end soon. The power of the Holy Spirit cannot be in you and remain dormant permanently irrespective of your location and situation. Jesus Christ told His disciples; “When they bring you before the synagogues and the magistrates and the authorities, do not be worried about how you are to defend yourselves or what you are to say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” Luke 12:11-12.
