“Perhaps you will think to yourselves, how can we ever conquer these nations that are so much more powerful than we are? But don’t be afraid of them, just remember what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and to all the land of Egypt. Remember the great terrors the Lord your God sent against them. You saw it all with your own eyes, and remember the miraculous signs and wonders, and the strong hand and powerful arm with which he brought you out of Egypt. The Lord your God will use this same power against all the people you fear. And then the Lord your God will send terror to drive out the few survivors still hiding from you. No, do not be afraid of those nations, for the Lord your God is among you, and He is a great and awesome God. The Lord your God will drive those nations out ahead of you little by little. You will not clear them away all at once, otherwise, the wild animals would multiply too quickly for you. But the Lord your God will hand them over to you. He will throw them into complete confusion until they are destroyed. He will put their kings in your power, and you will erase their names from the face of the earth. No one will be able to stand against you, and you will destroy them all. You must burn their idols in fire, and you must not covet the silver or gold that covers them. You must not take it or it will become a trap to you, for it is detestable to the Lord your God. Do not bring any detestable objects into your home, for then you will be destroyed, just like them. You must utterly detest such things, for they are set apart for destruction.” Deuteronomy 7:17-26

After four hundred and thirty years in slavery, in torture, in pains, and humiliations in Egypt under Pharaoh, God deliver the children of Israel by His power; when Pharaoh tried to bring them back to that slavery and humiliation and shame which they had left behind, God destroyed him together with all his choice armies and their weapons and chariots at the Red Sea. After spending forty years in and walking through the wilderness, God was with them, defending them and providing all of their needs. When the time to enter into the land that God had promised them through Abraham came, new challenges came, fear of what they saw and what they knew will came, uncertainties of the outcome if they engage in war came, and the might of the seven nations before them started to take it toll on them, and God told them as you see these seven Nations now, just remember what happened to Pharaoh then.

God did not tell them to remember Abraham or the covenant, or the provisions in the wilderness, or their years of sorrows in Egypt, or the humiliations they suffered, or the number of years spent in slavery; He asked them to remember what happened to Pharaoh who resisted His words concerning them, to remember what happened at the Red Sea, what happened to the armed men and chariots of Pharaoh. God was asking them to look unto Him for a repeat of what He did to Pharaoh, God was asking them to move on with confidence despite the challenges they see from the Nations and seven kings before them. God was asking them to overcome their fears with good and excellent memory of His goodness and faithfulness and strength and might, God was saying to them, as they remember what He did to Pharaoh, so will He do to the Nations and kings before them now. God was asking them to march ahead towards the promised land with all confidence in Him without fear or doubt, confidence in Him and not in weapons of war, through their remembrance, He will do wonders again for them, and He did it.

God wants you to remember how He defeated your Pharaohs in the past years, how He gave you salvation and deliverance from sin, from powers of sin and its consequences, from your strong enemies. He wants you to remember how He opened the doors for you before even when there were challenges and seeming failure; how He lifted you up, took you up, and kept you to this very moment. God does not want you to remember your past sorrows, affliction or shame, God want you to remember the victories you had before; He wants you to move forward towards what He had promised you. He will give you victory again. For prayers, Click here
