One thing David knew was that he was anointed for a mission by God and he was totally set to fulfill the mission with all of his heart, might, and body. David without military training, without the distinguishing military uniform, and without the usual military ammunitions stood boldly in the presence of King Saul, his generals and his armed soldiers and declared the power of the true God and told them the God of the Children of Israel is not like the gods of Goliath and his people in Philistine even with their ammunition and shields and heights and preparations of all of their military men standing to contain with and fight with the armies and people of Israel. Did you know you are born again and renewed and that you have been washed with the precious blood of Jesus Christ, that your sins had been taken away and your mistake was forgiven and that you have been justified and sent forth to have victory? Did you know that your body had become the temple of the living God where He dwells and that the Holy Spirit of the Almighty God is living and active in you and is leading you every moment of the day? The consciousness of this knowledge is enough to change your feelings, your thoughts, and your expectations in life and in all issues. The presence of David in the camp was insignificant but his words and the boldness of his declaration was enough to earn him respect and immediate approval of his proposal by King Saul and all the generals standing with him to fight against Goliath and the Philistines armies.

“When the words that David spoke were heard, the men reported them to Saul, and he sent for him. David said to Saul; let no man’s courage fail because of Goliath. Your servant will go out and fight with this Philistine. Then Saul said to David, you are not able to go against this Philistine to fight him. For you are only a young man and he has been a warrior since his youth. Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear, and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them since he has taunted and defied the armies of the living God. David said, the Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said to David, go, and may the Lord be with you. Then Saul dressed David in his garments and put a bronze helmet on his head, and put a coat of mail on him. Then David fastened his sword over his armor and tried to walk, but he could not because he was not used to them. And David said to Saul, I cannot go with these because I am not used to them. So David took them off, then took his shepherd’s staff in his hand and chose for himself five smooth stones and put them in his shepherd’s bag. With his sling in his hand, he approached the Philistine. The Philistine approached David with his shield-bearer in front of him. When the Philistine looked around and saw David, he derided and disparaged him because he was just a young man, with a ruddy complexion, and a handsome appearance. The Philistine said to David, am I a dog that you come to me with shepherd’s staffs? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. The Philistine also said to David, come to me and I will give your flesh to the birds of the sky and the beasts of the field. Then David said to the Philistine, you come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted.” 1 Samuel 18:31-46

David was an underdog a misfit in the thoughts an sights of Goliath, but in the sight of the living God a miracle was on its way, victory was assured and the name of the God will be exalted and David was soon to be exalted and on his way to being recognized and accepted by the people. That Goliath against you will not defeat you even when the result of your expectations are not coming the way you had prayed and trusted God, you will be exalted and honored by your God. Our God is not like their gods. “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember and trust in the name of the Lord our God. They have bowed down and fallen, but we have risen and stood upright.” Psalms 20:7-8. For Prayers, Click here
