HOW DO YOU FEEL AFTER PRAYERS?

There is a call to pray for something specific in your life as Hannah did in her first open prayer to God in the temple; there are pressures on you to get somewhere, to finish well, to stand up, to run the race before you, to overcome afflictions, stagnations, humiliations, insults, disappointments and to resist evil thoughts and evil people. Did you know that there are certain things in our lives that will not go away on its own except we spend time in prayers? There are situations in and around us that will never change except we commit ourselves to prayer. There are things we will never be able to achieve despite our efforts, our strength, hours of labor, years spent in acquiring knowledge and education, years spent in building wealth and whom we know in person except we deliberately submit ourselves to sincere prayers before God. Hannah came to realize the need for prayers after doing everything else to be happy and failing in all of them. She realized she will not have what she wanted most in life by fighting her rival or returning insults for insults, or by seeking ways to humiliate her rival. She realized what she was going through in life was beyond human beings, beyond what she could handle alone so she had to take them to the Lord in prayers. It is amazing to read the response of Hannah, know her feelings thereafter and her sadness taken away. She said, “let your maidservant find grace and favor in your sight. So the woman went on her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad.” 1 Samuel 1:18

Hannah left the place of her first prayer with all confidence that she had prayed satisfactorily to the only God who is alive and living; the only God who has had seen her tease, her cries, and knows her pains. The only God who knows her needs and is able to provide them. The only God who see her situation in her marriage and understands her feelings and complains; the only God who will not ignore or abandon His own children who call on Him sincerely in prayer; the only God who heard her voice in prayer. She left the place of prayer with joy in her heart even when she did not see the answer to her prayer immediately; She left the place with satisfaction that she had done what she needed to do right not regretting the words of Eli the priest. She left the place with greater expectations for the answers to her prayers. She left the place with the assurance that nothing but the best will come out of her prayers. She left and did not feel sad again.

Hannah went to the place to pray with faith and left after prayers with even greater faith and trust in that God. “So the woman (Hannah) went on her way andate and her face was no longer sad.” 1 Samuel 1:18b. Did you know God is watching before and when you pray? He is still watching you after you have finished praying, still watching what you do thereafter and how you feel after leaving His presence, and watching what you say to yourself and to others after the prayers. Did you know God wants to give you results after prayers? He said to His disciples

“In the morning, as they were passing by, the disciples saw that the fig tree had withered away from the roots up. And remembering, Peter said to Him, Rabbi look, the fig tree which You cursed has withered. Jesus replied, have faith in God constantly. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever says to this mountain, be lifted up and thrown into the sea and does not doubt in his heart and God’s ultimate power but believes that what he says is going to take place, it will be done for him in accordance with God’s will. For this reason, I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer, believe with confident trust that you have received them, and they will be given to you. Whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, drop the issue, let it go, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions and wrongdoings against Him and others. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your transgressions.” Mark 11:20-26

Despite all the delays and shame, God still want to answer your prayers. When you still feel sad and angry after prayers as you did before prayers, then look inward. For prayers, Click here
