KING SAUL, WHEN PRESSURED, WHAT TO DO. (04)

God did not just decide one day to reject Saul as king over Israel, something before then, there was a disobedience to His given instructions and a wrong approach to Him by Saul; God did not just send Samuel back to King Saul to rejoice with him or to directed him on what to do as king and leader of His people, Samuel had already given Saul directives on what to do before that second visit. Saul was made the first king over Israel by God’s grace for a purpose; it was by God’s grace that Saul was chosen not for his beauty or his physical or spiritual ability or height or his family wealth or his family deep connection to God or Samuel, it was purely the will and the choice of God or him at that time. Saul met with Samuel the prophet through circumstances that were beyond his control, he received words from Samuel that he never anticipated or dream for or asked for in his entire life before that day, Saul saw the confirmation of the entire words he heard from Samuel in no distant time and he was happy to be a leader of God’s people after God through Samuel anointed him openly before the people with prophetic words.

There call of God is not the end of all things but the beginning of many things that will happen in your life and in your circumstances. God will not call you to disgrace you or reject you; God will not give you the grace for Salvation without a promise, without a word, without His presence to be with you and without His power to see you through all circumstances and situations that you will see, hear and experience. Being born again is the beginning of God’ unfolding plans for your life that will definitely lead you to the future He had promised and destined and planned for you. As a chosen vessel of God, when pressure comes and the intensity increases, know that Satan is on you and wants to stop you or take you away from the track of your destiny in Christ Jesus and you have to be very careful with your decisions, with your actions, with your words, with the people you associate with and the people surrounding you from them on. It was at the time that God was about to confirm, to establish and give Saul stability in the kingdom and the people that Saul had pressure to succeed from the people of Israel and for defeat from the enemies and he gave up the instructions and words of God concerning the situation and fell into the pressure by offering a sacrifice that eventually annoyed God and resulted in his rejection.

Though King Saul had his anticipated victory, that success did not last long, he was rejected by God, he lost the kingship in Israel, lost the power of the leadership of the people Israel, he lived the rest of his life in misery, sickness, and anger. This is what Saul told Samuel after that victory and this was the reply of Samuel to him thereafter. “Now Saul waited seven days, according to the appointed time which Samuel had set, but Samuel had not come to Gilgal and the people were scattering away from Saul. So Saul said bring me the burnt offering and the peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering which he was forbidden to do. As soon as he finished offering the burnt offering, Samuel finally came, Saul went out to meet and to welcome him. But Samuel said, what have you done? Saul said, since I saw that the people were scattering away from me, and that you did not come within the appointed time, and that the Philistines were assembling at Michmash, therefore I said, now the Philistines will come down against me at Gilgal, and I have not asked for the Lord’s favor by making supplication to Him. So I forced myself to offer the burnt offering. Samuel said to Saul you have acted foolishly, you have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God, which He commanded you, for if you had obeyed, the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. But now your kingdom shall not endure. The Lord has sought out for Himself a man David after His own heart, and the Lord has appointed him as leader and ruler over His people, because you have not kept, obeyed what the Lord commanded you.” 1 Samuel 13:8-14. To obey God despite all the pressures of life is better than whatever we may offer as a sacrifice to Him. For prayers, Click here
