ONE THING NEEDED

Worries are not new to humanity; it does not discriminate between classes, nationality, race, gender, and profession. Great men in the past and present, poor and rich, big and small, had experienced various levels of worries in their lives. The after effects of worries to all humanity are bigger than the reasons that brought the worries in the first place. The results are far reaching to our health, security, relationship, concentration and happiness. There is nothing on earth that human being had never been worried about, and there will never be any to justify the action. The bible says; “Anxiety leads to depression, but a good word encourages” Proverbs 12:25

You may be wondering about what to do to receive God’s blessing in abundance and to forge ahead to greater excellence in life. You may be worried about what to do when situations seem unfavorable, when people seem unfriendly, when dreams and desires seem too far to achieve after laboring many years. You may be worried about what to do when your loneliness and pains seem to be lingering longer than expected. You may be worried why it is taking too long for the answer to your prayers and fasting to come. You may be wondering what to do to please people and attract their favor. You may be worried about your job, spouse, children, family, your health, weight, car or house. You are not alone in your worries; there are very many people worried right now on what to do, what to say, and where to go, just like you. But in every situation, God has not left you behind.

Martha was worried on how to please Christ Jesus when He came visiting their home. Christ told her, “And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42. One thing was needed for Martha to do, sit down and listen to the word of God concerning that issue and you will be free from worries.

Jehoshaphat was worried when he the news of the invasion of his territory by large armies of the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with the Ammonites, came against him to battle. “And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth forever. And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.” 2 Chronicles 20:21-22. Jehoshaphat set singers to praise the Holiness and the might of the living God and God gave him the needed victory.

Sarah was worried when she found out that she was getting old and will no more be able to have a child for Abraham. But God was not worried and never thought that way concerning her. “And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken. For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.” Genesis 21:1-2. All that Sarah needed was to keep believing till the very end.

Hannah was worried when she could not have a child for her husband and the other woman was busy mocking. All she needed to do was pray and believe. She did and was blessed.

King Saul was worried when Samuel took long to show up for an appointment. All he needed to do was to be patient and to keep waiting, men may be late, but God will never be late.

The woman with the issue of blood was worried after many unfruitful years of spending her money on medication she had no success in her health. All she needed to do was touch the helm of Jesus garment. She did at the end and God did it for her. The bible gave us this assurance.

“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.” Philippians 4:6. One thing needed is for you  to do is to lay your worries down at the feet of Christ Jesus absolutely trusting Him with thanksgiving.
