NOT OTHERS, BUT YOU.

God has a standard for you to attain in life and I am convinced, by His abundant grace and mercies given to all who depends on the unending covenant blood of Jesus Christ, He will enable you to attain to that standard irrespective of what the devil and men with contrary desires for you may do. God's standards are higher, better, and they are capable of taking you to the very end of life. The standards of men are temporal, irrespective of their level of goodness, they are weak, and last for a very short period of time. The bible encourages us to do just one thing: “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2

Though journey to the cross at Calvary was cruel, very painful, very lonely and very shameful, it was the standard set by the God the Father to bring men (you and I) to salvation. Christ Jesus subjected Himself to that standard and did not desire to attain the standards of men for the salvation and redemption of mankind. When people call you unjustifiable names, look unto Christ Jesus; when they abuse you because of your failures or inadequacies in life, look unto Christ Jesus, when they castigate you for any reason whatsoever, look unto Christ Jesus, when they reject, frustrate and condemn every step you take and word you speak, look unto Christ Jesus. He alone is the author and finisher of your faith not any other person. Though these actions are always painful, but it is not what they do or say to you that matters to God, but what you do to yourself by reason of what they do or say.

In desiring to attain God's standard for ourselves,we have to look unto Jesus Christ in all things, depend on Him for all things, and hope in Him for all things. Do not judge yourself by the standards set by people around you, either through their words and actions, wealth and ungodly offers. Remember whether you are strong or weak in faith, courageous or frustrated by the system of things in the world for or against you, the commission and protective arms of our God will never be lifted off from you as long as you are determined to remain faithful to Him in all things. I therefore urge you to be determined to be led by His words and His Spirit, and be determined to be obedient to His words as you go about your daily activities. We can do much to ourselves to be free from from satanic and human manipulations and condemnations.

The devil will always bring temptation, people will always be on our way to hinder and frustrate our efforts, insufficiency will come occasionally, aches and pains will come, the road to our dreams and peace will always be challenged, and difficult people and situations will always exist, but what they will ever do to us does not matter as much as what we will do to ourselves because of what they did. Christ told His disciples: “Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come. It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith” Luke 17:1-5.

The road to your success might not be smooth, but by His grace you will get there. It might take days, months or even years, but the God that sets the standard for you will never fail to stand by you until you get there. It is not what others do to you that matters to God, but what you do to yourself because of what people are doing to you that matters.
