“Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion which cannot be moved but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people, from this time forth and forevermore. For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land allotted to the righteous, lest the righteous stretch out their hands to do wrong. Do good O Lord to those who are good, and to those who are upright in their hearts. But those who turn aside to their crooked ways, the Lord will lead away with evildoers. Peace be upon Israel.” Psalm 125:1-5. Israel had trouble in Egypt and on their out, but God said, Peace be upon Israel. That peace is with you now and onward.

The children of Israel did not just decide to go to Egypt, God took them there; safely kept them there; provided for them there; defended them there, and took them out at the right time to the place He had promised and prepared. That same God who kept them in Egypt also directed their steps and movement to the Promised Land. He took them through the wilderness, through the Red Sea, through River Jordan, and through the wall of Jericho. That same God will also keep you safe; take you through whatever difficulty or afflictions, guide your heart; direct your steps, and will lead your ways. When the children of Israel went to Egypt, God prepared kept them in a place called Goshen where He provided for them. He will keep you in all situations, in all places He will locate you, and make provisions for you there until you are situated in the place and in the position He had destined to make you a blessing to yourself and to others.

Goshen was a good place for the children of Israel but it was a place of temporal relief while still serving as slaves. God had a more suitable land for them, a land that was better, and that was where He was taking them to. Israel went from Egypt to the Promised Land by the power and the word of God. God sent Moses to led them all the way and His angels to fight with their enemies who desire to stop them on the way. Israel defeated Pharaoh and the armies of Egypt without an army. Israel went through the Red Sea without a boat; Israel defeated seven great kings, seven strong nations, and their armies without having an army. Israel went through the River Jordan without using a ferry as they did at the Red Sea. They brought down the walls of Jericho without using a bulldozer; they defeated their evil enchanters without fasting; they survived the sickness and pains in the wilderness without a doctor; they had shelters without engineers constructing one; the had enough food to eat without having a farm, and good drinking water without digging wells. Israel had no physical wall to defend itself but the Lord who kept them defended against all aggressions because He was a wall for them.

In keeping Israel safe, God did many miracles, signs, and wonders in Egypt before Pharaoh and everywhere He took them to on their way out. He spoke and defeated Pharaoh, nullify the counsel and wisdom of his counselors by turning them into foolishness. “Then the Lord said to Moses, Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, a darkness to be felt. So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was pitch darkness in all the land of Egypt three days. They did not see one another, nor did anyone rise from his place for three days, but all the people of Israel had light where they lived. Then Pharaoh called Moses and said, Go, serve the Lord; your little ones also may go with you; only let your flocks and your herds remain behind. But Moses said, you must also let us have sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God. Our livestock also must go with us; not a hoof shall be left behind, for we must take of them to serve the Lord our God, and we do not know with what we must serve the Lord until we arrive there. But the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not let them go. Then Pharaoh said to him, Get away from me; take care never to see my face again, for on the day you see my face you shall die. Moses said as you say I will not see your face again.” Exodus 10:21-29. For prayers, Click here
