"WHAT GOD DID FOR ELIJAH (2)

Will God forsake those He called into His work? No, He will never forsake them and He will never forget them. Right from the day Elijah stepped out to do what God asked him to do and to say what God asked him to say. God showed Himself faithful and dependable to him; He never in any way abandon him in the field though he suffered many things personally. In the life of Elijah and in his mission, our God proved His faithfulness; proved He is worthy to be trusted and proved it is good to be dependent on Him. Elijah depended on God for all his physical and all his spiritual needs, he trusted God for direction and trusted the words of God will be fulfilled in all situations he finds himself and God met his need and fulfilled His words. Though we are in a different time, we serve the same God that Elijah served and what He did for Elijah, He can and He will do the same for us if we will continue in Him, depend and trust in Him for all our physical and spiritual needs. Christ Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 28:20b “And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

When Elijah was on the mission and with full submission and obedience to all the commands of God on the mission, not minding what he will experience or suffer, he had the need for food and God did the miraculous and provided him with food enough to satisfy him. “Then the Lord said to Elijah, go to the east and hide by Kerith Brook, near where it enters the Jordan River. Drink from the brook and eat what the Ravens bring you, for I have commanded them to bring you food. So Elijah did as the Lord told him and camped beside Kerith Brook, east of the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat each morning and evening, and he drank from the brook.” 1 Kings 17:2-6. Even the Ravens heard the word of God and obeyed it completely. Let me assure you that you may not have all that what you want in life, but God will supply all your needs for the mission He had called you to do for Him. Did you think God will leave hungry or forsaken concerning your needs forever? He will never, He knows your needs and He knows your wants and in His mercy, He will give you what you need to make you a success according to His power and knowledge of what is ahead of you as you walk along with Him.

When the brook dried up and there was no more water to Elijah to drink, it was time for him to move to another location, but he waited until God gave him the authority and the direction and the location on where to go. “But after a while, the brook dried up, for there was no rainfall anywhere in the land. Then the Lord said to Elijah, go and live in the village of Zarephath, near the city of Sidon. I have instructed a widow there to feed you. So he went to Zarephath. As he arrived at the gates of the village, he saw a widow gathering sticks, and he asked her, would you please bring me a little water in a cup? As she was going to get it, he called to her, bring me a bite of bread, too. But she said I swear by the Lord your God that I don’t have a single piece of bread in the house. And I have only a handful of flour left in the jar and a little cooking oil in the bottom of the jug. I was just gathering a few sticks to cook this last meal, and then my son and I will die. But Elijah said to her, don’t be afraid, go ahead and do just what you’ve said, but make a little bread for me first. Then use what’s left to prepare a meal for yourself and your son. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: there will always be flour and olive oil left in your containers until the time when the Lord sends rain and the crops grow again. So she did as Elijah said, and she and Elijah and her family continued to eat for many days. There was always enough flour and olive oil left in the containers, just as the Lord had promised through Elijah.” 1 Kings 17:7-16. Did you know God will not leave you without a direction in life if you will wait patiently until opens the door for you? The doors to divine opportunities are opened by God only according to His plans for our lives, not open by our knowledge or powers. When the brook is dry, wait God will give you the direction and the next location and will even open up doors for you. For prayers Click here
