OPEN MY EYES DEAR LORD

“So the Syrian king sent horses, chariots, and a great army. They came by night and surrounded the city. When the servant of the man of God rose early and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was around the city. Elisha’s servant said to him, alas, my master, what shall we do? Elisha answered fear not; for those with us are more than those with them. Then Elisha prayed, Lord, I pray You, open his eyes that he may see. And the Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. And when the Syrians came down to him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, Smite this people with blindness, I pray You. And God smote them with blindness, as Elisha asked. Elisha said to the Syrians, This is not the way or the city. Follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom you seek. And he led them to Samaria.” 2 Kings 6:14-19.

The fact that you are yet to see certain things in your life does not mean they do not exist; the fact that you have not used your gift does not mean they are ineffective; the fact that you are struggling so hard daily does not mean you will never have a season of rest; the fact that you are yet to be married does not mean you will remain unmarried; the fact that you do not a child does not mean you are barren; the fact that you not employed does not mean you will never have a job; the fact that you are still renting does not mean you will never have your own home; the fact that you are having some financial hardship does not mean you will not be free of debts; and the fact that you are a slow learner does not mean you will never catch up in learning.

God is not working in a reverse direction concerning your life, concerning His plans, purpose and program for your life; He is not holding back what you rightly deserve because of your past; God is looking towards enabling you to recover all that you have lost in life, all that you have missed in your struggles, and all that you have been deprived of by the devil because you believe in Him and had been following Him through Jesus Christ. His ways for your life, His plans and desires for our life will be made possible despite what the devil is doing in you. God will never invest His spirit in you and abandon you thereafter. Through His love He gave us Jesus Christ as savior; through His love He gave us the salvation; through His love He gave us His Holy Spirit to guide us; through His love we are living today, we are hopeful today, we are pressing on today; and it will be through that same love that we will manifest His goodness in the land of the living.

When God opens your eyes to see His love in you, you will admire yourself differently; when He opens your eyes to see His mercies, you will appreciate where He took you from, what He enabled you to overcome, and you will appreciate where He is taking you to. When He opens your heart to perceive His goodness, you will trust Him the rest of your life; when He opens your eyes to see and your heart to know what He intends for your life, you will definitely give yourself wholehearted to achieve and to meet His standard. The very day that God opened the eyes of Jeremiah to see and to know what He intended for him, his entire life expectations, dreams, ambitions, vision, drive and determination was never the same again. His value for life, words and relationship with people changed for good and he began pursuing with everything in his life the purpose and plans of God for his life.

Despite facing a well-equipped army with a mission to kill, Elisha knew God will deliver them and had to pray God to open the eyes of the servant with him; the moment his eyes were opened, his words changed, his confidence grew, and his expectations became positive. That is what God intends to happen in your life as you ask Him to open your eyes. The reason for fear, weakness and confusion is that your eyes are not open to see what God is doing for you as you walk about each day. For prayers, Click here.
