FROM THE FOREST TO THE PALACE -----  RECOMMENDED (4)

After God recommendation, after his anointing by Samuel, David went back into the forest and was doing what his parents had asked him to do. Unknown to him was the fact that God was in His love and power making a way for him to be where He had planned and destined; unknown to David was the fact that someone he never knew had seen him, admired, and noted the display of his gifts and talents, and that someone will speak for him to bring God’s plan to pass in his life. Did you know that God is working to bring you out to the open to display His gifts and talents? It is certain, God will do it. Did you know God will raise up men to speak to you concerning His plans and purpose? Though David went back to the forest to continue feeding the family cattle’s with him, He was still in God’s plans and waiting.

After many days or months had passed, God did the unthinkable to Saul and to David. Remember, it was not Samuel that spoke to Saul concerning David, someone else did; someone that David or Samuel did not see or know, but God had seen and known the person He had destined to use for David. This is what happened; Saul’s servants said to him, “See, an evil tormenting spirit from God is troubling, terrorizing, afflicting you. Give us your servants the command to look for someone who can play the harp, lyre, when the evil tormenting spirit from God troubles, terrorizes, afflicts you, he will play, and you will feel better, be well.” So Saul said to his servants, “Find someone who can play well and bring him to me.” One of the servants said, “I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem play the harp, lyre. He is brave and courageous, a warrior. He is a good speaker or has good judgment, and handsome, and the Lord is with him.” Then Saul sent messengers to Jesse, saying, “Send me your son David, who is with the sheep, the shepherd. So Jesse loaded a donkey with bread, a leather bag, wineskin full of wine, and a young goat, and he sent them with his son David to Saul. When David came to Saul, he began to serve him, entered his service, stood before him. Saul liked David, loved David very much, and made him the officer who carried his armor, his armor-bearer. Saul sent a message to Jesse, saying, “Let David stay and serve me, remain in my service because I like him, I am pleased with him; he has found grace/favor in my sight.” When the evil tormenting spirit from God troubled, terrorized, afflicted Saul, David would take his harp, lyre, and play. Then the evil tormenting spirit would leave him, and Saul would feel better, refreshed, soothed.” 1 Samuel 16:15-23

Though David was anointed to be the next king after Saul, a position which God recommended him for, which Samuel anointed him for, which he knew and accepted, David did not go to meet Saul as a king or take over from him or announce the plans of God to Saul, he went as a servant, he went to serve and Saul liked and loved David. His coming to the palace and meeting Saul was as a recommendation from someone he never knew, something he never planned for and never asked anyone to help him. After God’s recommendation comes man’s recommendation and man’s acceptance of what God had done. I pray that will be your experience in Jesus Name.

David was qualified for God’s recommendation after God had searched his heart, and David was qualified after the person had seen him display his talents. This was the requirement that Saul was looking for in the person to be with him, and this is the quality of David that the person saw before recommending David to Saul; he is brave and courageous, a warrior; he is a good speaker, has good judgment, handsome, and the Lord is with him. When Saul heard these qualities he said bring him to me. David said: Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23:4-6. For prayers, Click here
