Abraham did not initiate any covenant with God, God initiated it; if Abraham was the initiator of that covenant, the scope would have been small, the impact would have been significantly short and personal, and the terms would have completely depended on his efforts, his actions, and on his labor daily; but God did not allow Abraham to do that, God initiated the covenant with him and thereafter God made all things by Himself to begin working for Abraham and Abraham’s only duty was to walk with God in obedience and see all of the words of the covenant fulfilled in ways and means that only God can do; that is what divine favor is all about. This is what did when the works, the plans and the desires of the favor began taking place in the life and ways and deeds and household of Abraham.

“And the Lord brought Abram outside his tent into the night and said, look now toward the heavens and count the stars if you are able to count them. Then He said to him, so numerous shall your descendants be. Then Abram believed in, affirmed, trusted in, relied on, remained steadfast to the Lord; and He counted, credited it to him as righteousness, doing right in regard to God and man. And He said to him, I am the same Lord who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land as an inheritance. What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather humanly speaking, has found? Has he obtained a favored standing? For if Abraham was justified, that is, acquitted from the guilt of his sins by works those things he did that were good, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed in, trusted, relied on God, and it was credited to his account as righteousness, right living, right standing with God. Now to a laborer, his wages are not credited as a favor or a gift, but as an obligation, something owed to him.” Genesis 15:5-7; Romans 4:1-4

To show Abraham that the works, the result, the impact and the joy of living in and enjoying the goodness of divine favor is far beyond his best ability and best labor. The same is with us today despite our very best in anything we have and can do. God woke Abraham at night, a good time to see the stars in heaven and clearly identify each; God brought him outside to an advantageous position free from everything that will obstruct his view and vision, and with all his human senses and ability fully activated, God asked Abraham to count the stars and if he could he will give him the number he will mention, but it was impossible for Abraham to count the stars, and God told him your descendants will be innumerable. That was even before Abraham had a child. That is divine favor at work. God showing Himself and doing His will to perfect His ways, His plans and His desires in the lives of those who trust in Him and follow Him. “For it is by grace, God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ that you have been saved actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life through faith. And this salvation is not of yourselves not through your own effort, but it is the undeserved, gracious gift of God; not as a result of your works nor your attempts to keep the Law, so that no one will be able to boast or take credit in any way for his salvation.” Ephesians 2:8-9

The issue with Isaac being yet unconceived, and unborn becoming a child of the covenant and the one chosen to extend the covenant was not as a result of Sarah’s prayers or Abraham request from God. It was all about God’s plans, God’s design, God’s purpose, and God’s divine favor on them. Divine favor is what God will give to you after the promise so you will be fulfilled as the words of the promises stipulates. We receive all that God had promised and provided through His favor. The blessings is God’s original plan for humanity irrespective of what and where you are now, that plan still stands and it will come with divine favor. Contrary to what people may think, say or belief, God doesn't want you to be sick, He doesn’t want you to be broke and He doesn’t want you to remain lonely or idle. Prayer Request Click here
