AS DAVID WAS ANOINTED, ANOINT ME DEAR LORD

Post date: Jun 17, 2014 4:01:45 AM

When David was born, unknown to his parents, there was a divine seed of God inside of him for greatness; before he started to compose and sing praises to God in that forest, there was a call of God upon His life; before he was identified by Samuel, God had known him; and before he was anointed in the presence of his family members, God had anointed him in the presence of His angels in heaven. There is something that God had placed inside of you that men had not seen and it is only the anointing that can reveal it as it was in the case of David.

Though the parents and sibling of David had no pre-knowledge of what he will become in life, though they treated him without respect, left him to in the forest with the flocks, though they did not give him any chance of greatness in the family or the nation, God had high calling upon his life. There is nothing your family and the people around you will do to stop God when your time comes. Your neglect will not last forever, your poverty will not be indefinite, your weakness and sickness will end, and God will unveil you to the world as He did with David.

David was not anointed because he was strong, tall and handsome, not because he was healthy and wealthy, not because he was excellent in reading and writing, not because he was living in a developed society or country, not because he was very eloquent and fluent in speaking many languages, not because he was the very best among the children of Jesse, not because he was the very best in composing and singing praises to God, not because he was the best in constructing and playing instruments when worshiping God, not because he was able to kill the lion and the bear that attacks the sheep he was keeping, not because he was very protective and had a heart of service. David was anointed because he had been chosen by God long before he was born and long before the day Samuel met with the family.

You were not saved because God just wanted you saved; you are saved because God destined that for you long before you were born, and on that day of your salvation, the heaven were open for all the goodness of God to begin taking their proper place in your life. Did you know the grace of God in you is not in vain and will not be wasted? Did you know that irrespective of what the devil in you and with you, God will never allow you to waste away by the forces of darkness? God did allow the neglect that David suffered in his family to destroy him and his purpose. God did not allow him to remain in the forest indefinitely. As it was for David, I am asking God that it will also be with you. God will send your Samuel to meet you where you are, He will command him and he will do what He says as it was with David.

“I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Consecrate yourselves and come to the sacrifice with me. Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice. When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, Surely the Lord’s anointed stands here before the Lord. But the Lord said to Samuel, Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. Then Jesse called Abinadab and had him pass in front of Samuel. But Samuel said, The Lord has not chosen this one either. Jesse then had Shammah pass by, but Samuel said, nor has the Lord chosen this one. Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, The Lord has not chosen these. So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have? There is still the youngest, Jesse answered. He is tending the sheep. Samuel said, Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives. So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the Lord said, Rise and anoint him; this is the one. So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David.” 1 Samuel 16:5-13. For more prayers, Click here
