NOAH, THE SIGN AND THE WORD

“At the end of another forty days Noah opened a window of the ark which he had made, and sent forth a raven, which kept going to and fro until the waters were dried up from the land. Then he sent forth a dove to see if the waters had decreased from the surface of the ground. But the dove found no resting-place on which to roost, and she returned to him to the ark, for the waters were yet on the face of the whole land. So he put forth his hand and drew her to him into the ark. He waited another seven days and again sent forth the dove out of the ark. And the dove came back to him in the evening, and behold, in her mouth was a newly sprouted and freshly plucked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the waters had subsided from the land. Then he waited another seven days and sent forth the dove, but she did not return to him anymore. In the year 601 of Noah’s life, on the first day of the first month, the waters were drying up from the land. And Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and behold, the surface of the ground was drying. And on the twenty-seventh day of the second month the land was entirely dry. And God spoke to Noah, saying; Go forth from the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives with you. Bring forth every living thing that is with you of all flesh, birds and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the ground, that they may breed abundantly on the land and be fruitful and multiply upon the earth. And Noah went forth, and his wife and his sons and their wives with him after being in the ark one year and ten days.” Genesis 8:6-18

Noah did not find the grace at the most troubling time to survive the flood in his generation just because he was very wealthy, was more intelligent than everyone else, had several good advisers who were able to accurately predict the future and guide him through; he was in an important position in the government, because he was the only man in the community or because he had any special shape than others. Noah survived the flood because of these three things:

(1) He was just before God. Please despite all the condemnations and philosophies that will come your way, endeavor to remain just before your God, if God does not condemn you, then any other form of condemnation from any situation, institution or organization in your life will be temporal. Being just and remaining so is living by faith in God. “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him” Hebrews 10:38

(2) Noah was righteous before God. (3) Noah was blameless in his generation; and (4) He walked with God, not for God. Please do not forsake walking with God despite what people will say and do to you; you will receive a handsome reward thereafter.

Noah did not need a sign before being just, righteous, and blameless and to walk with God in his generation, he did not need a sign before separating himself from the evil practices around him. Noah did not need a sign before believing God when he was told of the coming rain and flood but he believed God instantly. Noah did not need a sign of rain from God before starting the construction of the ark as instructed, and Noah did not need a sign before taking his family and the animals into the boat and closing the doors behind them. All he did was to believe God and to follow instructions and that differentiated him from all others, saved his life and that of his entire family. Noah is known by the miraculous deliverance that his entire family received through his believes and obedience and fellowship with God.

When it was time to get out of the ark, Noah wanted a sign using the dove, but waited to hear from God after the signs. When you get the sign, wait on the word. Trust that God will speak to you along with the signs that and He will give just as He did to others. For prayers Click here
