SAMSON, WHEN PRESSURED, WHAT TO DO. (03)

What happened to Samson in his days is also happening to us today, what he went through is what we are going through, what he suffered is what most of us are suffering also, but what we know in the life of Samson should be a guide for us today on how to deal with our weaknesses, with the pressure that comes to us to satisfy a desire or to overcome our weaknesses or achieve a desire and to fulfill a dream. Unknown to Samson in his heart was the fact that he was gradually derailing from the plans of God for his life by the ways he was following, by his demands for things and satisfaction and by his unguided and unthoughtful actions. I want you to know that all forms of pressure from Satan directly or indirectly on us, either from men, women or from any religious or none-religious organization promoting ungodly thoughts, ways, desires, imaginations, and rewards are scheduled to derail us from the benefits of our salvation, of knowing, accepting, trusting, and following Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior daily.

Samson was prophetically and miraculously conceived and born to be great; he was to be set aside for God’s work and use; he was chosen by God from birth to be a judge by God to the people, God deliberately made him physically strong from birth but that same Samson became an object of ridicule and entertainment to the people he was called and chosen by God to judge. In the cause of his life, Samsom lost his dedication to God, lost his relationship with God, lost his physical strength, his eyes were pulled off by God’s enemies he was called to judge, he became physically blind and needed someone to lead him by thereafter.

How did Samson get to that low level in his life? It began with the pressure for beautiful women which he couldn’t resist, “And Samson said to his father, get her for me because she looks pleasing to me.” Judges 14:3, and the pressure to satisfy himself sexually. That pressure made him follow after and patronize prostitutes which eventually lead him to meet with Delilah and that was the end of the story of a great strong man God intended to use for His glory. Your story will not end like that of Samson.

Being pressured is not as new as some may think, it has been one of the weapons that Satan uses to derail God’s great men and women from God’s plans and purpose for their lives; Satan uses these pressures to derail them from their great dream that would have impacted their lives, the lives of their children and the lives of many other generations. Satan uses pressure to convince men that delays from God and His promises are signs of God’s rejection when what they have been asking God for and waiting on God takes too long to come. It is good to know that pressure from Satan is wickedness targeted at our future destiny in God, our joy of salvation, our subsequent victory in life, and our ultimate deliverance from his afflictions and pains.

"And there was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah and his wife was infertile and had no children. And the Angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her, behold you are infertile and have no children, but you shall conceive and give birth to a son. Therefore, be careful not to drink wine or any other intoxicating drink, and do not eat anything ceremonially unclean. For behold, you shall conceive and give birth to a son. No razor shall come upon his head, for the boy shall be a Nazirite, dedicated to God from birth, and he shall begin to rescue Israel from the hands of the Philistines. Then the woman went and told her husband, saying, a Man of God came to me and his appearance was like the appearance of the Angel of God, very awesome. I did not ask Him where he came from, and he did not tell me his name. But He said to me, behold, you shall conceive and give birth to a son, and now you shall not drink wine or any other intoxicating drink, nor eat anything ceremonially unclean, for the boy shall be a Nazirite to God from birth to the day of his death. So the woman in due time gave birth to a son and named him Samson, and the boy grew and the Lord blessed him. And the Spirit of the Lord began to stir him at times in Mahaneh-Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.” Judges 16:2-7; 24-25. For prayers, Click here
