TAKE ME BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS OH LORD (16)

Though God told Abraham that his descendants will be slaves in  Egypt, He also promised him that they will someday be free from that slavery, they will depart from that land, and they will be at the place He will prepare for them to dwell and possess. The departure from Egypt was a well-known fact by all the children of Israel despite their years in slavery, suffering, slavery, and shameful humiliations. Though they knew they will one day be freed, that freedom did not just begin until they call on God in prayer and God sent Moses. “The Lord said, I have seen the troubles, affliction, humiliation my people have suffered in Egypt, and I have heard their cries when the Egyptian slavemasters hurt them before their foremen, taskmasters. I am concerned about their pain, and I have come down to save, rescue, deliver them from the Egyptians. I will bring them out of that land and lead them to a good land with lots of room, a fertile land flowing with milk and honey. It is the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. I have heard the cries of the people of Israel, and I have seen the way the Egyptians have made life hard for them. So now I am sending you to the king of Egypt Pharaoh. Go, bring my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:7-10

All along, after four hundred and thirty years, God still remembered His words and knew all of His promises to Abraham; He knew and saw the sufferings, humiliations, and pains of the children of Israel while they were in Egypt; He saw, He knew, and He felt the wicked activities of their taskmasters, and above all, He heard their prayers when they call but God did not act until they prayed and cried to Him for help. There are things God had said and promised you, there are things you know about our God and about yourself and about your future; there are many good things you are expecting from yourself and from God, but those things will not just happen just like that of the children of Israel without you praying to God and believing God for them and working to see them happen. Prayer opens the door for God’s favor in all situations and despite the hardship and the pains, when God hears you, He will act and send help even when you are in situations that seems impossible and the location that seems difficult.

The beginning of the movement of the children out from Egypt was through God hearing and acting on their prayers. When God answered, He sent Moses to Pharaoh to take the children of Israel out from Egypt to the land and place that He had promised and will show them. On their movement, God only promised Moses He will lead them to the place and the way to follow, He did not show Moses the way but led him; He did not tell Moses they will encounter the Red Sea or cross it, but the did encounter it and through His supernatural miracle they crossed it. He did not tell Moses they will be thirsty and hungry in the wilderness, but He miraculously provided food and water and shelter for them. He did not tell them they will spend forty years in the wilderness wandering and murmuring but despite that wondering and the murmuring, God allowed it for a purpose and did not abandon them for any reason. Moses told the children of Israel, “Remember how the Lord your God has led you in the wilderness for these forty years, taking away your pride, humbling you and testing you, because He wanted to know what was in your heart. He wanted to know if you would obey his commands. He took away your pride when He let you get hungry, and then He fed you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had ever seen. This was to teach you that a person does not live on bread alone, but by everything the Lord says. During these forty years, your clothes did not wear out, and your feet did not swell. Know in your heart that the Lord your God corrects, instructs, disciplines you as a parent corrects, instruct and disciplines a child.” Deuteronomy 8:2-5.

On their way to the promised land, God did things He did not tell Moses or the children of Israel or anyone else. That also, God will do for and with and to you. Prayer Request Click here
