MEAL WITH A DIFFERENCE

Every meal has a purpose and every covenant has its blessings and consequences; obedience to the covenant brings the full intended blessing while disobedience automatically brings the evil consequence. While God general intent is to bless you in everything you do, to keep you saved and united in and with Him, you should endeavor to obey every word of the covenant. You will always and forever receive tremendous godly blessings in every obedience you show to the word of God irrespective of your location and profession. Samuel told King Saul “Has the Lord as great a delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.” 1 Samuel 15:22

Every word of God spoken, written and revealed carries transforming blessing despite the opinions and resistance from the devil and from man. You should note that it is the devil’s duty to convince you, using any method that suits your thoughts and appealing to your chosen way of life to disobey God’s commands; it is your duty also using God’s word and your godly chosen way of life to resist the devil through the grace given to you by Christ Jesus. Your personal decision to follow Christ and to remain faithful to Him will keep you from falling into any form of destructive and Satan’s infested traps of disobedience, because the Holy Spirit will guide you.

It is evident that our Lord Jesus Christ taught openly to the hearing of everyone in the synagogue about His desire that everyone participates in His body and in His blood: “And Jesus said to them, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, you cannot have any life in you unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood. He who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up from the dead on the last day. For My flesh is true and genuine food, and My blood is true and genuine drink. He who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood dwells continually in Me, and I in like manner dwell continually in him. Just as the living Father sent Me and I live by the Father, even so whoever continues to feed on Me shall live through and because of Me. This is the Bread that came down from heaven. It is not like the manna which our forefathers ate, and yet died; he who takes this Bread for his food shall live forever.” John 653-58. Those were the words of God to the people openly.

Then when He was about to be crucified and during the special session with His disciples, He officially instituted the command of that intended participation not with the general public but specifically with the disciples. Demonstrating His instructions, He said in the gathering: “Then He took a loaf [of bread], and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them saying, This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me. And in like manner, He took the cup after supper, saying, this cup is the New Testament or covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.” Luke 22:19-20. Christ is calling everyone to participate but specifically those who have come to know Him, accept to follow Him, and are willing to live in obedience.

It is amazing to know that Christ instituted this command before His disciples after being with them consecutively for three and one half years teaching and showing them what to do, things to come, and who He was. On this faithful day, He took them further, showing then His desire for a closer relation even after His departure.

One things is quite common, in all of His teachings and blessings to man, God seeks closeness to Him at all times, He seeks your fellowship, your joy, your healing and your good health, He seeks your spiritual wellness as well as your physical wellness. These were His words on the physical and spiritual blessings in the communion “whoever eats my flesh and drink my blood has eternal life. “I will raise him up on the last day” “he will remain in me and I in him” “the one who eats my flesh and drink my blood will live forever. He did this to show His willingness to be with you as you decide to remain and to continue in Him. For prayer Click here
