GOD WILL GIVE YOU A VISION. (02)

In the early visions of Jeremiah before he accepted the work of a prophet that God intended for his life, we see God after speaking to him doing something unusual to encourage him, to prepare him, and convinced him to follow the promises He gave him earlier. Jeremiah narrated what God told him, “Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying before I formed you in the womb I knew you and approved of you as My chosen instrument before you were born I consecrated you to Myself as My own, I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations. Then I said, ah, Lord God behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a young man. But the Lord said to me, do not say, I am only a young man, because everywhere I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them or their hostile faces, for I am with you always to protect you and deliver you, says the Lord. Then the Lord stretched out His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me, behold, hear Me, I have put My words in your mouth. See, I have appointed you this day over the nations and over the kingdoms, to uproot and break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.” Jeremiah 1:4-10.

That was the call to Jeremiah, that was the promise to Jeremiah, that was the open expression of fear and inability by Jeremiah. Jeremiah was not yet convinced and God did more. Though God spoke clearly to convince Jeremiah, God still went ahead to touch his mouth that same moment to remove his fears of public speaking and fear of being too young but that was not enough in any way to convince Jeremiah to accept the work he was called to do. Jeremiah also experienced his fear of acceptability of his person and the words he will speak by the people, yet God did not walk away from him and did not abandon him. God went into the next phase to convince him and that is the next phase that I am writing now and expecting in your life and case.

Unlike Jeremiah who was reluctant, I know you are not reluctant, you have believed the message of salvation and the promises of God, you have accepted the call of God for your life, you have received His forgiveness and salvation by grace, you have stepped out with the message of God by faith to the world, but things are not happening as expected, you have been resisted, insulted, humiliated, rejected and you are lonely and sad and you are about to give up because of what you have experienced so far, you are about to surrender to the ways and manners of the people of the world, yet you are prepared to continue if given the chance, you are prepared to stand up again after the disgrace and shame and you are ready for the mission again, God will take you through this new phase as He did with Jeremiah.

For Jeremiah to be further encouraged and convince to accept the call and the duty, God gave him two visions with an additional promise; “See, I have appointed you this day over the nations and over the kingdoms, to uproot and break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant. The word of the Lord came to me, saying, Jeremiah, what do you see? And I said I see the branch of an almond tree. Then the Lord said to me, you have seen well, for I am actively watching over My word to fulfill it. The word of the Lord came to me a second time, saying, what do you see? And I said I see a boiling pot, tilting away from the north, its mouth about to pour out on the south, on Judea.” Jeremaih 1:10-13. Notice God asking Jeremiah what do you see. That tells us God was showing Jeremaih that He will reveal things or show him things and will also confirm them. In giving Jeremaih that vision, God’s intent was that Jeremaih will be confident enough to accept and follow the call and Jeremiah did and never looked back. When God gives you a vision, He is not asking you to follow the vision but that you believe the call and follow the message and depend only on God and not on self or anything else. As you follow the promises of God, as God gives you a vision, you will overcome our fears and the effects of all previous disappointments and live the rest of your life in His honor.
