THE VERY BEST REASON

Post date: Nov 22, 2012 6:09:13 AM

Thankfulness from a pure, sincere and peace loving heart is always a delight in the sights of our God. He inhabits the praises of His people and does great things we deliberately give our thanks continuously. The very best reason we are living today and doing what we are doing should not be attributed to anything else but to the keeping grace of God we receive each day either in our moment of pains or in our moment of joy. Being alive today is not as a result of the type of food we eat, the health we have, the strength of our wisdom, position, and protection we enjoy. All these matters, but we are living just because God in His infinite wisdom, counts us worthy to see each new day through His unfailing love and grace. Our God will always be merciful and kind to His children despite their weaknesses, strength, pains and fears.

Thanksgiving is a time of thanksgiving as the word implies, and it should be directed to the one who is worthy for the thanks, the Almighty God in heaven who made all things by the power of His spoken words. Let us thank Him for all things we have seen, and experienced; let us thanks Him for our expectations, for all His creations, for the several deliverance, for the provisions and care, for leadership, for forgiveness, for the unmerited mercies we receive each day, for our joy and sadness and also for the many victories. Also be thankful for one another, to our neighbors, friends and colleagues, fellow citizens and all human being. In thankfulness, we express the love and goodness of our Lord.

The crying prophet Jeremiah wrote, irrespective of all we have gone through in life, we still have good reasons to be thankful: “But this I recall and therefore have I hope and expectation: It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His tender compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness. The Lord is my portion or share, says my living being (my inner self); therefore will I hope in Him and wait expectantly for Him. The Lord is good to those who wait hopefully and expectantly for Him, to those who seek Him [inquire of and for Him and require Him by right of necessity and on the authority of God’s word]. It is good that one should hope in and wait quietly for the salvation (the safety and ease) of the Lord. It is good for a man that he should bear the yoke [of divine disciplinary dealings] in his youth. Let him sit alone uncomplaining and keeping silent in hope, because God has laid the yoke upon him [for his benefit]. Let him put his mouth in the dust [in abject recognition of his unworthiness] there may yet be hope. -- For the Lord will not cast off forever. But though He causes grief, yet will He be moved to compassion according to the multitude of His loving-kindness and tender mercy. For He does not willingly and from His heart afflict or grieve the children of men.” Lamentation 3:20-33

A perfect example of goodness and mercies of God is in the choice, deliverance, protection and blessing upon the people of Israel (the believers today).  Because God is still alive and leading you despite whatever situation you are in or have passed through, you will have to say this confession with all you heart like the children of Israel did in their time. “If it had not been the Lord Who was on our side now may Israel say: If it had not been the Lord Who was on our side when men rose up against us, Then they would have quickly swallowed us up alive when their wrath was kindled against us; Then the waters would have overwhelmed us and swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us; Then the proud waters would have gone over us. Blessed be the Lord, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth. We are like a bird escaped from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.” Psalm 124:1-8. On this Thanksgiving Day and as you thank God deliberately and sincerely from your heart, every snare against you will be broken, and your joyful days will be increased. I pray God to bless you with His peace in Jesus name.
