TAKE ME BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS OH LORD (20)

“Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego answered the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to answer you on this point. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire and He will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up. Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with fury, and his facial expression changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. Then he gave a command that the furnace was to be heated seven times hotter than usual. He commanded certain strong men in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego and to throw them into the furnace of blazing fire. Then these three men were tied up in their trousers, their coats, their turbans, and their other clothes, and were thrown into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire. Because the king’s command was urgent and the furnace was extremely hot, the flame of the fire killed the men who carried up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. But these three men, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego fell into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire still tied up.” Daniel 3:16-24

What Nebuchadnezzar wanted and expected at the open meeting with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego before his entire counsel was an unwilling compromise, unwilling rescinding of their earlier decision not to obey him and his command; he wanted an unwilling surrender of their will and he wanted to break their strong determination with fear. But to the surprise of king Nebuchadnezzar and in the presence of all the people waiting and watching to see what will happen next to these three men, they saw and heard and witness from their mouth an open re-affirmation of their decision and determination not to worship the gold image of Nebuchadnezzar and all the people present saw their readiness and willingness to face the consequences of their action; they saw that these three men were ready to face the consequences of their trust, faith, and belief in the Living God; they saw that they were ready to die if that will please the people and king Nebuchadnezzar; they saw that they were not afraid and did not express any fear or regret or remorse; the people saw that these did not regrate their decision or show any sign of guilt in their decision or misfortune or mistake in their decision and action and determination. What the people and Nebuchadnezzar heard infuriated them and made the king angry, their anger was nothing to make Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego to change their mind.

Would you change your mind because of changing and unexpected circumstances? Should you change all your previous decisions to follow Christ Jesus and remain faithful to Him alone because of what the enemies are doing and the delays you are experiencing in receiving answers to your request and prayers? Should you rescind your earlier decision because your enemy had refused to understand and accept your ways? Should compromise now and repent later? Should call for more time to reconsider your position and consult your local pastor for more insights into what you are experiencing or going to experience and suffer? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego were not hesitant to give the king the answer he never expected publicly. They said “we do not need to answer you on this point. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire, and He will rescue us from your hand. But even if He does not, let it be known to you, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” That was emphatic and strait to point. That is the kind of faith that God wants to see in you right now, this very day and always irrespective of the situation, frustrations, delays, disappointments, shame and loneliness that Satan and his willing agents are bringing into your life. I want to assure you that this kind of faith will not fail you; this kind of determination will not disappoint you, these of faith will turn your life and situation around; this kind of trust will put your enemies to shame before your own eyes soon.
