SELLF-IMAGE AND YOUR JOY

Each part of the human body is uniquely made by God in His absolute wisdom and placed in its present position to perform an important duty for the joy of the entire body. Each part is given specific assignment without the option of a duplicate. God made the eyes to see, the ears to hear, the mouth to taste, the nose to smell, the legs to walk and so on. Though they all have different functions, they are all in one body and the accurate usage and performance of each, gives joy to all other parts, and the malfunctioning of one due to any reason will adversely affect others.

Did you know that the eyes you use to look at yourself have the power to affect your entire thoughts and actions throughout the years you will ever live? The spiral effect of a wrong view of yourself can render you completely discouraged, unsatisfied, unmotivated, and unproductive; and that effect will be passed on to touch your children, your spouse, your business and every other thing that concerns you. The eyes of a person has the power of forming the right or wrong mindset irrespective of the circumstances that person is going through. Once the heart is transformed, the next point of call is the eyes. If you can maintain a positive view of yourself in everything you are engaged in, despite failures, you will also be able to maintain a hopeful and cheerful spirit that will encourage to keep on to the finishing line no matter what the devil is doing. Not until your view of yourself is changed, every effort to be effective will produce a negative result and you will be prone to making numerous mistakes even in things you already know how to do.

Our Lord Jesus said, “Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is bad, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is?” Matthew 6:22-23

The value you place on yourself affects the picture you see of yourself every day. Do not value yourself according to what is going on in your life or according to what people are saying about you, or according to the difficulties you are presently experiencing. You are more than the value you have placed on yourself. You are definitely worth more than the money you have or do not have, more than the thoughts and imagination of the devil and men, more than what your eyes can see and your heart can imagine and more than what words can describe.

Speaking further about your entire person, Jesus said, “You are the salt of the earth” that is asking us never to lost our value and taste, to do everything to maintain it. Like salt, you can either change or preserve anything that comes in contact with you without them affecting you. And, “You are the light of the world” encouraging us to do all things to let our light shine, despite obvious obstacles we face each day. Like light, you can overcome darkness, expose every form of evil, bring joy and gladness to people, give them reason to wake up from sleep and move out of bed. Like light, you can overcome the fears of evil that walks in dark through your brightness. You are what God said of you, not what is going on about and around you right now. Change the view of yourself and you will be able to overcome most of your weakness in life.

Redeem yourself from the adversities of the day by fixing your eyes on the good side of yourself, on what God had promised you, and on what you have been working on with all expectations and hope. Let what you see not discourage you again to move on and to think right.  Remember, “If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad” 1 Corinthians 12:26. Your day and time of joy is here to stay. I pray that you will overcome every negative view of yourself, your efforts and move on in life with joy from today. Amen.
