DRIVEN BY DESIRES – WILL GOD GRANT MY DESIRES? (3)

“The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults. Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord my rock and my and my redeemer.” Psalm 19:7-14

It will interest you to know that despite the situations and the circumstances before you. God has His laws in place and they are perfect, He will not change them. He has testimonies that are sure to repeat themselves and also make wise; He has precepts that are right in all of your situations and circumstances, He will not bend any for any reason; He has commandments that are pure and can enlighten your eyes and give you understanding; He has rules that are true when applied and followed in all situations. He requires that you fear Him with a clean heart and with pure desires in obedience and faith. Desires can make one faithful or unfaithful to God in many ways and when driven by selfish desires, I can separate you from the blessings of God despite your desiring to see the promises and blessings of God fulfilled in your life. Be careful and diligent with all of your desires and watch your actions and the words and commands of God, we saw how Adam and Eve were driven out of the Garden of Eden because of the fulfillment of a desire.

Desires are part of living, but a wrong desire brings many unfortunate, uncomplimentary, and ill-feeling results. Many people had suffered and many more are suffering because of the impact of their personal desires in their own lives, in their own family, in their relationships, in the jobs, in their workplace, and in their marriage. Many people had overcome some of the consequences of their wrong desires while many are still unable to overcome theirs despite many efforts. Desires that are contrary to the word of God are wrong for your life physically or spiritually. Desires that ignore the known commands of God will cost you much more than you can handle despite your being able to pray, think, and act. Samuel told King Saul; to obey is better than sacrifice and that is the absolute truth. God will not enable you to do that which is contrary to His word, if you do, it is your will and desire that is in control of you and not God and the consequences is real.

Whatever God had destined for you whether you know them or not, He will do them. Whatever promise He had given to you or showed you in any form or reveal to you in His words, He will fulfill them. Wait patiently on Him, trust in Him, fix your desires on Him and you will see Him in ways that are beyond the imaginations and knowledge of men. Isaac was a promise given to Abraham and God had scheduled he will come into the world through Sarah and no one else, but as time went on, delays set in, waiting become painful, age took its toll, and Sarah’s desire for a child became a personal problem, she introduced her servant Hager into her family affairs so she can bring the will and promise of God to pass. That single desire brought and unending trouble into the family of Abraham and into the world this very day. “Now Sarai, Abram's wife had borne him no children. She had a female Egyptian servant whose name was Hagar. And Sarai said to Abram, behold now, the Lord has prevented me from bearing children. Go in to my servant, it may be that I shall obtain children by her. And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai. He went in to Hagar, and she conceived. And when she saw that she had conceived, she looked with contempt on her mistress. And Sarai said, Abram.” Genesis 16:1-5. For prayers, Click here
